I work in a hospital and mainly female nursing staff are bombarded with chocolates from patients. Would the same gift be given to men do you think?

This also got me thinking about other stereotypical food and drink preferences of men and women.

Women = wine. Man = beer
Women = gin and tonic Man= whiskey
Women= salad Man = steak

How did these quite strange in reality stereotypes come from? How come some food and drink is looked on as more feminine or masculine?

This is true tbf.

That said, a lot of women I know tend to gravitate towards prosecco but I don't know many blokes that are mad about it.

There's a book called The Sexual Politics of Meat about this

And a song.

Consolidated : 'The Sexual Politics of Meat'

1991. From the album 'Friendly Fascism'. Track inspired by the book 'The Sexual Politics of Meat' by Carol Adams (1990).

man vs meat springs to mind as well with the stereotype that gluttony is somehow
alloyed to the masculine.

another interesting thing is that slimming marketing is very much skewed towards women. Slimming world for example must be attended mostly be women.

is it that body image issues are more prominent in women and that may be a factor in stereotypes of diet?
