“Jealous rage” sick of the reporting of women being killed by their partners

Here it is again. Women murdered by her partner due to him being “jealous” of her new relationship. How is this narrative still prevalent in the press? I know it is the Daily Mail but they are not the only ones.

Estranged husband shot his wife dead in a jealous rage after affair

Rose Jobson, 69, is believed to have been blasted by her husband Robert Jobson, 84, before he turned the gun on himself at their Lincolnshire village home.

Yes.
See also «all the neighbours thought he was such a lovely guy. A great husband and father!»

Except clearly not, most likely terrorising his family and thinking himself lord of all their lives.

The press really should stop covering these tragedies with bullshit-language like that.

Sickening. Poor woman.

What also troubles me is the hint of victim blaming in these sorts of stories as well.

Near the top of the article:
A wife shot dead by her estranged husband in a jealous rage had recently started a romance with one of his closest friends, MailOnline can reveal

These articles need rewriting as "violent man murdered his wife because he is a violent thug".

Yes it’s the subtle use of “jealous”, “affair” etc. I have to thank Jane Monckton Smith who wrote about the 10 steps that men who murder their partners move through. And she talks a lot about how the press reports these killings shapes the assumptions and narratives that most people hold in their heads (the idea of a man “snapping”) etc.

The worse one recently was a horrific incident in Devon that was reported as a joint suicide pact - like it was a tragic romance. Appalling - I very very much doubt the girlfriend wanted to die alongside her (well documented) violent partner.

Yes exactly. The language used is victim blaming.

At least these days the press don't dress it up as ' a crime of passion' Think they stopped that in the 90's .

I think in France that is or was an actual criminal defence?
