If he gets out after 24 years he will around the same age she was. It doesn’t feel like justice.

RIP quine.

Couldn't stop thinking about this poor woman when I read about the sentencing yesterday.

I feel so deflated and angry. How do we prevent things like this from happening? I am so fucking sick of every day going into the news and seeing yet another story where a woman has been raped, attacked or murdered by a man.

I don't really have any strong opinions on whole life sentences as I don't know enough about the criminal justice system but also why should we have to live amongst people like that?

I hope he gets what he deserves in prison

This thread is the first time I'd heard of this case. It's just so upsetting and I'm surprised it didn't get any coverage given it had so many of the media buzz factors - victim was attractive and white, the sexual element, the murderer who was unknown to the victim, and the horrific way that he killed her. Knowing that people heard her and yet did nothing is also very distressing - it might have been possible to save her.
Frankly, though I don't believe in capital punishment, I'd be hanging a noose from the bars in this guy's cell - then if he wants to end himself at any point in the next 24 years, he can do.

I’m angry that he is saying he has apparently no recollection of his attack.

Yet managed to have enough about him to think about how to try to save his pathetic sorry self by leaving the scene to buy fuel.

He didn’t care about her. Her family. Her life.

He cared about himself.

He cared about destroying evidence.

He didn’t care about her. At all.

He could have let her live. He chose not to. As if everything he did wasn’t bad enough, he chose to kill her.

He didn’t give her a chance.

And I’m not sure that I can’t be emotive about how I write about it (I’m struggling) or about how he is punished. I don’t think people like that deserve to be in society.

I hope that he does indeed end up serving much more than 24 years.

I suspect he won’t. In which case I would shed no tears if Walrussy’s ending came to pass.

Jill’s death was tragic. And a sair ane for this community.

And as for leniency due to his age? For this type of crime?

I struggle that he gets the chance for rehabilitation due to his age. Why should he get that chance?

As I said above, he did not give her one.

And why was this not in the media more at the time? It was truly barbaric and people marched in the streets of Aberdeen? I'm in Scotland and follow news closely but dont remember seeing anything of this. Why did this not make it to UK media in a bigger way? Horrific

The only reason I can think of was because it was lost in all the reporting of the Queen’s death. It was certainly reported locally. Absolutely awful thing to have happened.

Why why why don't people act when they hear someone in distress? I understand that there are sick, demented people in this world, but I do not understand this about everyday normal people. Poor poor lady and her children
