Shocking. I also don't understand how 'people' not following sharia law in the park (no idea what that means) means that WOMEN aren't allowed anymore.

It'll be the sexes mixing that they object to and it's always women who have to give way to men.

Religions are man-made institutions, the control of women was written into many. Some have, to greater or lesser extents, moved on but they're not really two distinct problems.

But if you pretend man's law is a god's law, then it makes dissent much harder for ordinary good people.

It's unreasonable of you to think that any Muslim regime would treat women as the Taliban do, OP.

Are you sure? When surveyed 40% of UK Muslims stated that a woman should always obey her husband - something only 5% of the general populace agreed with. More than half also believed that homosexuality should be illegal.

If this is what westernised Muslims believe then I can imagine it being much more traditional/extreme in other countries.
