Qatar’s women can’t work, study or travel without a man’s permission – where’s their armband?

I'm going to post the archived link but I'm not sure if it will post or not, if not try 12ft Ladder.

Magentax · 22/11/2022 15:01

I guess their armband is the same place as the one love armband - ie nowhere.

Because it's predominantly men driving the rainbow armbands agenda and they don't give a toss about women's rights.

The banning of the sale of alcohol was far more important and newsworthy as well

StephanieSuperpowers · 26/11/2022 11:37

All in due course. Let's sort everything else out first and if there's time, deal with the women. In the meantime, nobody has been fed while you whine.

Thelnebriati · 26/11/2022 13:01

LOL. You sound like every man who ever sneered at women needing basic human rights while being unable to work out how to put the food between the bread slices.

KittensNotMittens · 26/11/2022 13:06

Or the armband for foreign workers who are used as disposable humans. Not just those who built the stadiums but domestic help and construction workers.

Disydoll12 · 27/11/2022 08:07

Sure who cares about the rights of women and girls. Men only care about their rights to sex.

Indeed, anyone would think it’s merely about being seen to support the most fashionable causes.

HeatwaveToNightshade · 27/11/2022 09:58

Was just discussing this with DP a couple of days ago after we clocked the obvious and clumsy attempts by commentators at shoehorning in right-on reminders about LGBTQ+ rights. I feel I should say here that of course I believe outlawing homosexuality is abhorrent.

But NOT ONE WORD about or any reference to the appalling and discriminatory treatment of women in Qatar. Talk about an opportunity missed.

felicek · 27/11/2022 10:09

Because when men are discriminated against, it's a tragedy. When women are discriminated against, it's culture.

KittensNotMittens · 27/11/2022 10:20

And children being shot/beaten to death in Iran (alongside the women and men protesting) is what exactly?

Abccde · 27/11/2022 13:34

Don't be daft. They are woman - they don't count.

KittensNotMittens · 27/11/2022 14:16

Children too though. It’s devastating seeing armed men being ordered or shoot at children - and them actually doing it. When the revolution happened the army refused to fire on civilians.

OriginalUsername2 · 27/11/2022 14:24

I’ve been wondering this! It’s been nice to see lots of female presenters but they’re championing trans rights (like they’ve been told to) and missing a huge opportunity to talk about the women.
