I started the article in the guardian this morning about accounts of women in Afghanistan but I couldn’t even finished it. It’s so awful.

I know there are lots of awful things going on - but after what 20 years these women were just abandoned.

il so upset about it and I don’t understand why there is. It more outrage.

I also don’t understand why it doesn’t seem to have any profile on any of the Twitter feeds etc of prominent feminists - unless of course I’m missing this whixh I could be as I do t check regularly.

who is advocating for these women and who is organising for them? I would like to get involved. Is anyone else involved in any campaigning or anything?

There is a ton being written about it, and I don't think Twitter shorthand is the best place to read up. You might do better with long-form writing, instead of Twitter. And there is a ton of outrage, too. There are also a ton of organizations involved, such as Women for Afghan Women.

I'm not sure it's right to say the women were "abandoned," though. By whom?

In any case, attention has shifted to Ukraine.

Only military intervention will help and with the current issues following covid, economic downturn, Ukraine war, etc, I can't see the government wanting to re-engage and mobilise loads of troops and resources there.

Plus it'll never work whilst the Taliban still have some support from the Afghan people (and also the divided nature of the country whereby it consists of lots of tribes as opposed to a unified citizenship).

It's grim but I can't see it changing anytime soon. The ones I really feel for are those who'd been accepted into UK universities and were a month away from coming here.
