I've been giggling with glee since I saw this pop up on my social media feed. Sex strike!

Personally, I've decided to go on a sex strike, and it's going to last until abortion laws in the USA are fixed. Let's see how long men last without women serving their every whim and desire.

Anyone else joining me?

The comments from men whre, oh so lovely….
They really don’t care, do they? And they never will.

I think all women should go anti-male strike.
No dating, having sex, marrying men, taking men’s name, having babies - particularly boys.

I can’t believe women share their lives with men, how does one spend their life with someone who doesn’t even view you as a human?

Erm OK up weekday would you like me to do with my three sons? Kill them? Lock them away to be she'd of their X type gametes after puberty? Or raise them to be better than the generation before them, raise them in a household with their father that's filled with respect and DH doing at least his share of the domestic duties and treating me like an equal? You don't make the world a beget place by banning people with a particular type of chromosomes

Honestly?
Pretty much, yeah.

That’s really not normal, it sounds as though maybe you’d benefit from speaking to a professional to understand where this is coming from.

Even leaving aside partners, the idea that all fathers, grandfathers, sons and grandsons view their mothers and daughters etc. as non-human is very disturbed.

OK, I mentioned this upthread but nobody picked up on it.
The idea that no man views women as human because they are opposed to abortion is flawed from the outset.
Even in America, only 41% of men oppose it, compared to 35% of women (www.pewresearch.org/religion/fact-sheet/public-opinion-on-abortion/)
So how will a sex strike against men influence the 35% of American women that oppose access to abortion?
And what about the majority of men (58%) who agree with you?
Framing it as men vs women is incorrect in this issue. American women are slightly more in favour than men - 63% women, 58% men.
Do you also think 35% of women don't see women as human?

deydododatdodontdeydo · 27/06/2022 09:58

By the way, in the UK it's more like 88% of men in favour and 91% of women, so hating on British men is even more silly.

I’m perfectly fine, thanks.
I find your comment insulting.

While your view that every man finds women to not be human isn’t?

Seriously, this is not normal, please talk to a professional to understand what is going wrong.

Not sure how me (in the UK) going on sex strike will make the US change their laws. not that I have sex anyway these days

It's like the George Floyd again. What's happening in America isn't really relevant to here. There's mass shootings every day and a right to possess armed weapons.

I've always thought that abstinence is one of the most powerful tools women have, it helps women have control over their body not giving men exactly what they want (so it's not in a conservative way like it's associated with) . Lysistrata is a symbol of women's emancipation and power for a reason.

I have control over my body, and guess what, I enjoy having sex.

Which might work if the men being denied sex are the ones making the decision. Withholding sex that I enjoy from my husband in the hope he'll demonstrate and force other men to do what I want seems long winded and punishing women who also enjoy sex

YouAreNotBatman · 30/06/2022 13:31

Well, I don’t see not having sex as a ’punishment’, so that’s why I see no problem with it.

So women have lost the right to abortion in the US so we should also give up the pleasurable experience of sex to prove...? The people who overturned this think abstinance is the answer and their spouses are probably like minded so the "sex strike" really is pointless.

Also if sex is "women serving their (men)every whim and desire." Maybe you should reevaluate your relationships and self worth?

April90 · 30/06/2022 13:55

I'm in a same sex relationship with a woman and a feminist so I'm probably biased!
People saying it's nothing to do with us as it's in the US and let them sort it basically- I don't agree with this actually and don't think it's a nice attitude to have. It's basically saying we're ok so fuck em. I think women generally should stick together but I very much doubt women are going to stop having sex so I think this is a pointless unfortunately.

Where feminism meets mental illness....

@TruthHertz

Ypu have countless timed informed that you’re not a feminist, you don’t like women and you pander to men.
Why do you hurt yourself by coming over here?
It’s not healthy.

We should follow 4B’s footprints.

MargaritaPie · 01/07/2022 12:33

Terrible idea IMO

-Everyday men aren't responsible for what laws are passed.

-This won't achieve anything other than cause breakdowns in relationships.

-Some men who are being denied sex by their partner may just go to a sexworker for sex instead until this all passes.

I think that would say more about the relationships and men than anything else…
