Feminism: chat
Flo has gone too

Just seen on LinkedIn Flo are celebrating and gloating that not only women have periods and how great it is that Boots are renaming the aisle from 'feminine hygiene' to 'period products'.
So that's another brand off my list of who will receive my money.
And what PISSES ME OFF is that I cannot comment or I will lose my job.

@Pinklimey
Yes, this. Also 'hygiene' made it sound like periods were unhygienic.
In real life all the women I've spoken to are happy that shops are starting to use the word period instead of hiding behind a euphemism. It's only on MN that everyone assumes it's a trans thing.

I always thought the feminine hygiene aisle had non-period products too, like incontinence aids and maternity pads etc, so period products isn't entirely accurate. Hygiene has a wider meaning than just "clean" too, eg "sleep hygiene". I don't really like the change of wording, and given it is being done because it's seen as taboo to (correctly) associate periods with "female/woman", it does piss me off. It's not about keeping women happy.

I agree with PP that 'period products' is fine.
But pretending anyone other than women need them isn't.
