A Woman-Only Country

Just a random thought; what if there was a country in which only women were allowed to live?

Googled and found very little on the topic, so decided to start a thread. Would it work in practice? Would it be beneficial? Would such a country have any problems, and what would those problems be?

Interesting thread, some good book recommendations and I'm now off to read about the Greek Islands mentioned.
But as for real life, I don't think so. I've often felt uncomfortable in groups of women and I've never felt the sisterhood that is often talked about here.

Are the posters suggesting that a woman only society wouldn't work because women wouldn't collect bins/ work on the roads/ are scared of spiders for real?? I mean, FFS 🙄. Well, I am a woman, and I hereby put myself forward as chief spider- removerer for this utopia! However, as a (mostly) heterosexual woman I would have to disappear off for extended benders in the Lands of Men 🤪

I don't subscribe to the idea that women are inherently peaceful, so I think you'd find that without men to be the central focal point of women's ire, you'd see the classic tensions and divisions arise amongst women.
Violence too becomes much more viable in a place where you're automatically the physically weaker half of the population. That's without even getting into the international/geopolitical conflicts.

If I'm being honest, I don't want to deal with spiders and resurface roads - you don't have a dog and bark yourself! For all their difficulties, men are useful and all the ones in my life are lovely.
I like men and I'd be miserable without them.

Nature abhors a vacuum, so if there were no men you'd likely get some women becoming like them to fill the void. Maybe life would be less physically violent because I don't think we have the same aggression on the whole but there would still be power structures, some of which wouldn't be fair, and bias, nepotism and other undesirable traits.

Yeah, why would going on sex trips a few times a year be a bad thing?

Im starting to think this is greasyshoes/a mans fantasy, an island where the women are contained, breeding more women, who come off the island every few months for planty of sex and nothing else and then leave again....

First thing a country has to do is protect itself. So no more women and children can flee in times of war, it would be here's your rifle/tank/anti aircraft missile, off you go.
