Rape conviction rates are "disgracefully low", Policing Minister Kit Malthouse has admitted, as he acknowledged that "there is a problem" with violence against women and girls.

Speaking ahead of Home Secretary Priti Patel's conference speech on Tuesday morning, Kit Malthouse told Sky News the government will "redouble our efforts" to make public spaces safer for women.

The policing minister also admitted that "too many feel unsafe in the public realm" and said the government has "apologised profoundly" for the drop in rape convictions.

The public realm? 🤔🤣

Sure, ok, but the private realm is where women are actually most at risk. Domestic violence is what is most risk to women, and most violence happens in the privacy and supposed sanctity of the home.

The police and courts need to deal with domestic violence as mass male entitlement comes from the abuser's almost impunity in the home (and this teaches the same to the next generation). Right now authorities say they care, they say it's a crime, they tell women to tell someone and "speak up"...but doing so results in zero support, a starting assumption that the woman is lying and rigorous investigation into the victim, and finally punishment of any victim in family court who dares to state honestly that she and the children were subject to domestic abuse.

So it's not really illegal or even really frowned on, is it?

And therefore women aren't even safe locked inside our own homes, are we?

So they can fuck off with their faux concern about our safety in the public sphere.

Our safety in the public sphere also depends on upholding women’s single sex spaces. Has he made any declaration on that? Or is he following Labour’s cervixgate stance?

This is old news.

The issues with justice system and MVAWG. have been raised, inquiried, condemned, etc etc at regular intervals for years.

The current stats around rape were reported widely a year or 2 ago..
