Be Kind

I am listening to The Kindness Test on Radio 4. It is very interesting and all that. I am wondering how all this fits in with the current idea running around these parts that the 'be kind' request amounts to a demand fro women to capitulate their self-worth? I wonder if they have any knowledge of this?

Found it a bit depressing that I had to think really hard when someone last did something kind for me Sad. Certainly my DH and DC didn't spring to mind, although many of my acts of kindness were for them!

or not telling someone that I thought they were an ignorant twat

Is this kind? Think of all the poor individuals who will have to suffer his twattishness. Is it not kinder to let this individual know?

'Kind' .... to whom, and are you really acting in their best interests or just to make yourself feel good or to avoid confronting difficult attitudes and behaviours?

More helpful and constructive would be to think of the Buddhist pairing of compassion and wisdom.

Gosh tibtom, you completely assumed the gender of ignorant twat there Grin

I tried to do the test, but backed out because I cannot remember the last time someone was kind to me.

I really don't have the same idea of kind as them.

The things they gave as examples are more trivial than I would use it for.

And that's a bit of a problem. Kind is a very wishy washy term and also very subjective.
