And in some cases aborted priests children.
HYPOCRISY.
Those poor subjugated, enslaved women. I've got to say, i'm not one bit surprised.

Bloody hell! I shouldn’t be surprised at all, and I knew this happened historically but just reading this thread title I had a weird moment of feeling like I’m going to wake up from a bad dream. So much abuse of women in the world. Poor nuns, you would think they could be confident in choosing a life away from men. :(

"He said the Church was attempting to address the problem but said it was "still going on"
Where's the next bit of the sentence? "and so they are fully collaborating with the police in investigating these crimes"!!!!!
Fucking fuming. I hate the church.

Pope Benedict, was forced to shut down an entire congregation of nuns who were being abused by priests.
The congregation of nuns was dissolved, rather than the priests being removed from the priesthood and the women supported? So the women lost their vocation? What were they being punished for - lack of chastity?

He said that priests and bishops had abused nuns, but said the Church was aware of the "scandal" and was "working on it", adding that a number of clerics had been suspended.
I wonder if the police were involved and any of the men arrested and put on trial for their crimes? Probably not. 🙄

Yes, interesting how it's the nuns who were shut down rather than priests.

That (and the lack of police involvement in criminal investigation) was what stuck out to me.
In Chile, reports of abuse of nuns carried out by priests led the Vatican to launch an investigation last year. The women were reportedly removed from the order after highlighting the abuse.
Yep easy knowing where their priorities lie.

Not sure which country this happened in, but in many places, involving the police would likely lead to further abuse/ possible imprisonment of the women for extra marital sex.

The men in the church arent punished. Police, I dont think, are ever really involved. The priests are just moved to another country.
It will never stop. Ever. They'll just keep moving the priests around, and only suspended them or stopping them of their title if their name becomes public. As long as they keep it from being public, priests face no real punishments. And of course, the nuns are removed from.the church or also moved around to other convents.
It will never stop. Its run by men, for men. Its just boys will be boys.
They need to being in someone like interpol; put together some kind of international policing group whose only mandate is to investigate sexual abuse in the church, with the power to arrest and prosecute in whichever country their investigation takes them, and remove all the power from the church in regards to dealing with the priests themselves. But it'll never ever happen.

You're right. These women will never have the justice they deserve.
