Welcome - come and join us!

We’re a friendly group that uses Fasting in one form or another to lose weight or maintain our weight loss. We all have our ups and downs, and welcome insights from others and laughter along the way.... pirates and dachshunds will pop their heads up, we're in awe of those shredding with Jillian and lifting significant weights (beyond our own!) and impressed when we get our steps in.

Christmas really is just around the corner! Let's share our goals for this month and plan together how we can have the best Christmas ever, enjoying the festivities AND looking after our bodies - in whatever way we decide is best for each of us.

Fridays are our informal day for weighing-in (optional) and reflecting on the week – often with ideas for self-care and new goals for the coming week.

We cheer each other on, and commiserate when things don't go to plan.

If you’re new to this group, do introduce yourself and share your hopes and plans.

Some of us find daily posting helpful for accountability - others just pop in every now and then

Getting things back under control and aiming for a smooth month to the new year. My worst habit is the corner shop after the school run. So I’m planning each morning the evening before. My window is 10am-6pm with several mugs of redbush tea through the day.

Signing in with this month's end weight of 61.9kg. Not the mid 61's I was aiming for, but as I mentioned previously the change of seasons really has affected me in the first half of this month and that is something I can plan for next year.

Considering how challenging I found November I'm pleased with even this small loss of around a pound/0.5kg (I started at 62.4kg) I must also bear in mind I now have a healthy BMI, albeit nearer the top of the range, so losses are bound to slow. Fasting has been fairly consistent at 16:8 though I have had a couple of mornings when I have woken up ravenous and succumbed to breakfast; bound to be caused by what I have eaten the evening before so I need to make a note of that in future.

I am currently weighing daily and the fluctuations are quite something, but for me the calories in/calories out does seem to be the key; I ended the month on a deficit of approximately 3200 calories according to my spreadsheet 😁

I track my daily expenditure via my Apple watch (it shows me the 24 hour total and the 'exercise' calories) and my intake via Nutracheck.
My daily expenditure has averaged 1968, 598 of that is exercise (Jillian and a dog walk every day), giving me a baseline expenditure of 1370.

On days when the weather has been awful and dog walks short, that exercise expenditure really does drop. My weight really bumps up if I have bread, rice or anything sweet like cake or ice-cream, and drops quite quickly when I have had a couple of days of mostly protein and veg, whatever the calorie content, but over the month the in/out equation seems accurate for me so I'll stick with it.

I'll think about December on a new thread (if we have one) or come back here later.

I believe the best thing for us is focusing on opportunity.
