Anyone fancy joining me? I've done 16:8 once before and found it amazing - I got really into the fasting and lost a stone in about two months, which I was so happy with!
I then got pregnant and had my son who is now about to turn one next week!
Now that I’ve basically stopped breastfeeding, I’m so ready to get back into fasting again!
I gained quite a bit while pregnant, feel rubbish and all my jeans are too tight :(
I started last week at 11st 2lbs and have lost a pound so far - would like to lose 17lbs in total!
I would soooo love to be 9st 13lbs by my summer holiday (there is something about being under ten stone that really does it for me psychologically!!)
I found the company on here so helpful last time, and motivating!
Anyone fancy joining me in a new fasting kick?!
Fine just chatting to myself on here if not!
My eating window is 11am- 7pm so I've just done my 16 hours for today - However I'm heading out tonight, so am pushing through a bit longer today so that I don't go completely off-track!
First week getting back into it was rough but already feeling a lot better this week and I can definitely feel the increase in general wellness/ energy starting to come!

I’m starting 16:8 today. Glad to hear others are interested. I’m going to try eating healthy food within an 8 hour window each day. I’d really like to lose 4 or 5 kilos. Have been trying for ever!

BumpedmyElbow · 26/05/2025 15:54

I'm still going. Failed miserably today though. I have my period at the moment and that always seems to make fasting much harder and I'm usually a few pounds heavier at this time of the month.

Newbie1011 · 27/05/2025 09:47

Sorry that I haven’t updated the thread in a while! I did manage to lose a stone on 16:8 without calorie counting (which I hate) and I do really like it as a way of eating. It’s easiest if you stick to two meals a day and go for high protein and low carb / sugar as you get fewer cravings. Also if you can eat dinner as early as possible that makes a big difference!

Brilliant weight loss, Newbie. That’s really encouraging. I’m just started, but already weight is heading in the right direction.

BumpedmyElbow · 29/05/2025 07:38

Yes I've lost 12lbs in 6-7 weeks, so it does work. The most difficult part is weekend mornings. Sitting and working without eating is not a problem but chasing the kids all over the place when at the end of a fast is much more challenging! I'm also at the tail end of recovery from an injury and contemplating starting running again. Not sure how that will work with fasting, how do others manage exercise?

greengreyblue · 29/05/2025 07:43

I agree and after a year of eating this way, I have only eaten breakfast 5 days. Christmas with a short break with my DD. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy my lunch and it makes me want to fill up and break my fast with good stuff. You’ll notice you fill up quickly as you get used to eating less and I’m aware of getting the right nutrients. I’m 54 and thinking more about my health. I wasn’t overweight but lost 10lbs to bring me from bmi 24 to 22.
As for exercise, I feel sharper and more energetic in the morning without food. I do need my espresso though and lots of water.

I’d love to find other people doing 16:8 to connect with.
i just started yesterday and I have several kilos to lose. For the first day or two I’m not restricting what I eat with a view to getting used to the fast but then I know I’m going to have to start being careful if I want to actually lose any weight.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 25/07/2025 21:23

Hello, do you mind if I join? I’ve been following 16:8 intermittent fasting since the end of January and I’m 3 stone down and at my goal weight but still following the same pattern of eating to keep at my goal weight.

My BMI has gone from 29.9 to 22.4 and I feel so much better. I joined a gym at the end of February so strength training and cardio exercise has been pivotal too.

Missing breakfast feels like a way of life for me now and I don’t really snack anymore because of the fasting period so I can’t stop!

I do think it’s nice to be able to chat to people on the same journey, it can feel a little lonely sometimes.

greengreyblue · 26/07/2025 08:33

@Doyouthinktheyknow Wow that’s a big loss, well done! I find it’s just what I do now. Sitting here now with my black coffee. I find breakfast skipping the easiest part as all other meals could possibly be with others so it doesn’t interfere socially/ at work. I have recently put on a few pounds so am trying to be more careful in my eating window, think I’d got a bit slack! 😬

BumpedmyElbow · 26/07/2025 09:11

My bmi is down from 26 to 22.4 and ive lost a little over 10kg in just over 3 months. I find combining 16:8 with being careful not to eat too many carbs a really good combination for weight loss. Completely agree with you that breakfast skipping is the way forward. I drink a lot of caffeine free fruity teas in the evening which satisfy the craving for a sweeter taste without sugar or artificial sweeteners.

greengreyblue · 26/07/2025 10:22

I’m all about the caffeine! 😂 I drink green tea , water and black coffee until 12pm no problem. I eat salad with protein at lunch and a normal family meal before 6. If I ate this pre meno I would be much thinner but find if I eat more the weight goes on easier these days. I walk daily and am on my feet at work ( school) so make 10k steps most days. I do some strength training at home( plank 1 min, some kettle bell lifts and abs). My downfall is drinking at the weekend. Not lots but I don’t drink Mon to Thurs and then we enjoy wine or beer the other 3 days. I don’t have a sweet tooth so this is my vice. Overall though I think 18:6 has helped me as I have surprised myself with how long I can go without food especially as a lifelong breakfast eater. I’m interested in the health benefits in addition to keeping weight down.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 26/07/2025 20:41

Hi all, had a week's holiday, so ready to get back on the wagon tomorrow.

I do 16:8` but still manage to fit 3 meals a day in Blush

Chia/yogurt with some nuts/berries
Jacket with cheese and ham hock
BBQ chicken, coleslaw, green salad, new potatoes

Doyouthinktheyknow · 27/07/2025 18:20

@greengreyblue, yes I find skipping breakfast really easy, it’s just the norm for me now.

I gave up sugar and sweeteners when I started fasting so I’m all about the black coffee, no sweetener too! And love fruit teas, them and a black coffee get me through the morning!

Don’t know what others do about exercising while fasting. I do it regularly because I prefer exercising in the mornings but I see so much online saying it’s not the best idea. I just feel sluggish if I have something to eat before I go to the gym so I just do what seems to work for me!

I’ve read the opposite, that exercising in a fasted state is beneficial. I feel so much lighter and focussed in the morning .

Hi all

Jumping onto this thread here. I started using mounjaro in January time and so far down 4 stone, but still another 4 stone to go. I hated that I was so reliant on the jabs to curb my appetite and felt like I needed another way.

I've always loved the idea of fasting however suffer from hypoglycemia and got headaches, dizziness, faint when I don't eat regularly.

The jabs have really helped me manage blood sugar and insulin so I thought I'd give fasting a go. A week in and I'm down 5lbs in one week doing 20:4 fasting daily. Zero sugar, whole foods, a boatload of water.

I feel absolutely great and plan to continue this. Hoping that when I reach goal, I can get off the jabs and focus on the fast because my body would have gotten used to it.
