Mindy Peltz ridiculous fasting rules

Does anyone do her diet?

I'm trying the 17 hour fast which I find tricky enough (no tea in the morning!!) but reading further she suggests to do 'autophagy' properly you should break your fast with something high fat like butter(!) or avocado. Then stay under 50g carbs and 20g of protein in your eating window. Wtf would you actually eat apart from butter that is healthy?! I've asked chat gtp for ideas and the results are basically starve yourself.

I ate berries with yogurt peanut butter and seeds today as well as a broccoli salad with salmon. Boiled egg snack plus couple of strawberries.

900 calories and fair enough under 50g carbs but 66g protein. I would be STARVING without the protein.

I also had two milky chocolatey coffees which helped keep me full but admittedly were another 480 calories and 50g carbs and 18g protein!!

If you can survive without things like milky coffee and stay full on 50g carbs and 20g protein please tell me how and what you eat!

Imho Dr Mindy Pelz is a quack. She's not a medical doctor, she's a chiropractor. She makes intermittent fasting ridiculously complex and is pushing loads of add on expensive extras that you "need" to stay healthy and fast properly.

I listened to her podcast for a short while and swiftly dismissed her "advice" as mostly irrelevant.

I find Gin Stephens a lot more down to earth and sensible, if you need someone to talk you through IF. Or, of course, Dr Michael Moseley.

I’m reading this after seeing it recommended on another thread, and it seems incredibly complicated. 36 hour water fasts? I can’t see where ‘fasting’ ends and simply starving yourself begins to be honest. And the additional rules of macros just blew my mind. I don’t think I’ll be following her advice closely. The only thing I did take away was the difference in oestrogen/progesterone in your cycle and especially as I am on HRT patches, I thought that I might look
into this further and maybe slightly extend my fasting window on my oestrogen only weeks after doing some research.

Thanks for replying.

I feel like the fasting lengths related to your cycle make sense - just going by my hunger during a usual month!

But I eat whole unprocessed foods and advice to have ridiculously low levels of protein etc seem nuts.

Had a healthy breakfast this morning and feel infinitely better about my life than breaking my fast at 1pm with a slice of butter 🙄

Binning her off!
