Gaining weight despite Fast800 and working out!

I need some wisdom to talk me from jumping off the cliff and headfirst into a massive bowl of pasta!

I am 5'10 and 235lbs so very overweight. I started working with a personal trainer two weeks ago and started Fast800 a week ago. Other than Easter Sunday I've stuck to it well. In terms of working out, on a weekly basis I have 2 strength sessions with my PT and 2 spin classes. I'm sore following the PT sessions.

I weighed myself this morning and have not lost an ounce in a week. I am so despondent and my usual MO is just to say "sod it, I'm mid 40s and maybe this is it for me."

I live in the US and I'm coming home in May for something of a reunion with old friends. All the Fast800 testimonials talk about losing 25lbs in 8 weeks, but I can't get the needle to shift! 😭

Has anyone "been there, done that"? I'd really appreciate any wisdom/support.

You started a week ago but didn't stick to it over Easter?

When you start intense exercise you can get DOMS, which is reflected in the aching, the muscles draw in fluid and you can gain a little weight. I’m very short and smaller and have gone up 2-3 lbs, so maybe you’ve actually lost fat and it will all settle down.

On Easter Sunday I had two mimosas.

That's enough to make me not lose weight too. Keep going. Plus the weight training will put water into your muscles (I think) so short-term heavier.

I really feel for you. But the fact that one weigh day that is disappointing after just a week gives you thoughts of wanting to dive head first into a bowl of pasta suggests to me (and mentioned with genuine kindness) you need to fix your thoughts about food and your own body before anything else.

nothing is going to create long term change until we change how we view food and rewards and will power etc etc. It is so complex and hard to unravel and I can hear your sadness and desperation and I just want to give you a hug.

Thank you, I really appreciate that.
