Hi everyone, I'm just looking for some stories of success and inspiration please because I'm finding it hard to get motivated and going at the moment. If anyone has succeeded in losing a lot of weight I'd love if you could take the time to read this and reply.

I was always heavy but looking back until about ten years ago (I'm 38 now) I was always pretty fit and healthy. When I last felt fit - I would have been about a size 12-14, able to jog 5k, felt strong - I was about 7 stone lighter than I am now.

I have a really strong understanding of nutrition and how to eat low cal and nutritiously in a way which is healthy and doesn't leave me hungry. I like swimming and walking, and can cook really healthy and tasty meals that leave me filled. When I do this consistently I know I can lose weight without being hungry.

However I really really struggle with emotional eating and binge eating and so I have never cracked it.

I'm so mentally tired of trying to lose weight. I am happy to lose the weight gradually but I need a boost to kick start me. The idea of losing 1 lb a week for two years is just unbearably hard. I can't handle the idea that it will take that long.

I'm not looking for shortcuts, but I know people who are as heavy as me can lose weight more quickly than other people. I just need some sense that I can have some short term victories, feel good in a few months, not have to wait two years to start feeling good about myself.

Really sick of how I am, want to change, trying really hard but never succeeding.

There is a great F800 facebook group where everyone posts their meals. Have you read the book?

For me it has been sustainable as I eat more protein now and that keeps me fuller. I also did strength training when I got near my BMI.

The key really is to just decide that this is the last time you are losing that weight, once you have that resolve you find a way.

You can just do it for 2 weeks and then go onto 4/3 and still lose if you prefer.

I now eat maintenance calories but I never eat after c8pm.

The other thing is a tip I got from Glucose Goddess. If you eat greens/veggies first, then protein and fat, then carb, it lowers your blood sugar response by up to 75% therefore reducing blood sugar crashes later. Anecdotally I think it helps.

I also worked out I function better if I give myself regular meal and snack times- personally this has been key to remodelling my binge behaviour, as I no longer get into an anxious hunger state.

I always include healthy fats and I don't eat any added sugar either, forgot to say, that is very near the top of my list of what helps in maintaining, as I will always be a sugar addict- the key is to not have it for long enough that you forget! Go for low sugar fruits etc.

Hi Nairin,

I've been doing Fast 800 Keto combined with 18/6 fasting for two weeks now. I never weigh myself but my waist is already down from 33 inches to 31 inches and my partner says he can see me shrinking by the day. My clothes are also significantly bigger already, which is hugely motivating.

I was a little hungry and light headed for the first couple of days but, after that, my appetite reduced significantly. I don't get hungry at all now.

One of the tips I was given was to read Dopamine Nation and Alan Carr's Stop Smoking book first. I'm not and never have been a smoker but the psychology in these books applies just as much to emotional eating as any other behaviour that gives us a boost in the short term but causes harm, whether physically, emotionally or both.

The other thing I did was a 16/pattern of eating, 2 meals a day pattern, lowering carbs to about 90g per day and cutting out all refined sugars for a couple of weeks before. This really helped ease me into it.

When I first heard about Fast 800, I had some serious concerns about how low the calorie intake was but it's so nutritious, with adequate protein and good levels of healthy fat, not to mention the stacks of research, that I'm a total convert.

The rate this weight is dropping off is so motivating it's untrue!

Wishing you every success with your weight loss. I'd love to hear what you decide and how you get on.

@HelenaEM I would be very interested in what you eat, and what time you eat it and starting weight and weight loss! If you've got time of course.

Absolutely!

I'll take yesterday and today as an example, because they were pretty standard.

I have the same breakfast every day for ease (and because it's delicious). This is 100g cottage cheese with 20g inulin (low carb chicory root fibre) and a sprinkle of cinnamon mixed in, topped with 80g mixed strawberries and blackcurrants and 20g of Keto granola (I get mine from Keto Hana as it has no nasties added). I also have two cups of tea made with my milk allowance of 50mls. This is at 8.30

Yesterday afternoon I had a beef stir fry made with 100g trimmed sirloin stake, sliced green cabbage, edamame beans, bean sprouts, tenderstem brocoli, season with ginger, garlic, lemon, chilli flakes and soy sauce, followed by 12.5g of 90% cocoa dark chocolate with a teaspoon of peanut butter on it (this is really low I sugar and crushes any cravings I have).

Today for lunch I had 2 plain scrambled eggs, 50g of smoked sock eye salmon, 1/2 a medium avocado, a grilled tomato, a large flat mushroom grilled with 20g Boursin and 20g Mozzarella on top and stacks of tenderstem brocoli and asparagus.

I finish lunch by 2pm and, outside of eating windows, I only have water.

Hope that helps.

Oh, meant to add, I don't weigh myself - I only measure but I'm down 2.5 inches on my waist as of this morning (33ins down to 30.5 ins) and two inches off my hips 44ins down to 42. I'm 5'8".
