Best book for intermittent fasting?

Hi all,

Looking to buy a book for intermittent fasting, I'm interested in 16:8 mainly. I'm very all or nothing - so hoping to find a book that isn't too restrictive when it comes to what I am eating if there is any such thing. Any recommendations? Thank you

Hi @CupOfAnxieTea

I 'read' (I used blinkist which is condensed book service - so its not the full book)

fast this way - Dave Aspie
fast. feast. repeat. Gin Stevens

But as more of a visual learner I watched a whole host of your tube videos. Ted x was my first stop - then on to suggested videos - It was very easy to get the gist of what to avoid and what to do. (and I got good at spotting the snake oil salespeople very fast)

essentially stick to your eating window be it 10/14 or 18/6

there are basically two types of fast

Keto - you can have things outside of the eating window that will not break your keto fast

Clean - nothing but water

I, like you I am a all or nothing person - so I went with a clean fast

I'm on day four and its going well. I feel great, not hungry or deprived. I do miss my first cuppa of the morning, but I now have a little gratitude ritual when my window opens at 12 and absolutely savour my cuppa.

I should mention I have my breakfast at 12 and my dinner as normal (with pudding!)

So I've not changed my eating at this stage at all and surprisingly I feel better in my self already

The only changes i have made is to add some flax/seeds/omega oils and such like into my porridge. Make sure I take a good multi vit, Vit D capsule and collagen (because I'm peri)

I'm not bothered so much with weight loss (though i am hopeful) - I want the benefits of having a clean fast and allowing my digestive tract to have 18 hours downtime to clean/work and repair.

Thank you SO much for this @subtleartofnotgivingafuck - this is really helpful! Did I understand right, do you still do three meals in your eating window or skip one? Thanks will look at these books! I have only tried a bit this week and have felt really hungry and rough, but I'm assuming my body is getting used to it and it will get easier. I ate soooo much over Christmas so I think it will take a little while!

@CupOfAnxieTea I was planning to have three meals but wasn't hungry for my 'lunch' so have stuck to two meals - my break fast and my dinner, but made sure I've got a lot of veg, fruit and fibre as well as drinking water. I'm not limiting my self either, what ever I want I can have in my eating window.

This is my first time fasting and I've felt fine. That being said my window is 1200 till 2000 and I have super busy mornings so getting to 1200 is slightly easier as I'm very busy and distracted! I have been really strict though only water in my fasting window.

Today is day 5 and I'm shocked at how much my peri bloating has gone down. (this could be attributed to a number of things, less bread for example - so I'm not saying this is because of the fast alone)

Try watching Jason Fung on youtube, he has some very short informative videos.
