Fasting / 5:2 diet

Talk about intermittent fasting and 5:2, including what’s worked for others. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

I never stick to this, need a buddy!

I have about 2 stone to lose.

I find normal diets don't work as the more I eat the more hungry I am so fasting seems a good idea. I am going to try and do 2 days a week, anyone else?

2nd day back to back nearly over. I have been inhaling fumes from food today but so far resisted. Going for a tin of vegetable soup, one round of bread and some chicken pieces to make a sandwich with the bread. 4 cups of tea today. I am very much looking forward to eating normally tomorrow and having my weetabix for breakfast. DH has booked us both in for a spinning class tomorrow. Never done one ever so that should be interesting. Planning on fasting on Monday and Wednesday next week, back in work then so should be distracted from food. My DD’s raiding the Orio’s has been hugely temping today.

You've done well.
I'm on Day 4 of the blood sugar diet & 16 hour-ish fasts and I'm struggling today. May have to have some cheese.
B porridge with pear
L tuna & butterbean salad
S probably too much cheese
D chicken & chorizo stew, which will no doubt be wolfed down in about 10 seconds
I'm back to work next week so I really need to be organised or I'll be scoffing all the biscuits

I had the flu jab yesterday, started feeling rubbish last night, and have found it very easy to avoid eating today!!
I did have a very small lunch and small dinner, starting to feel a lot better now 😊

Hope you've completely recovered after your flu jab amigababy.
I've written off today thanks to lunch out with friends. Absolutely zero willpower 🙄I'm back on it tomorrow.

Feeling good now @blardyfeck thank you. I was hungry yesterday morning, it seemed a long wait till lunchtime. It'll be the same today as we had dinner late last night.

Reporting in. Have done a fast day today and found I was not hungry hungry. So found it easier to do than the other day. I think being at work helped and I had hot water instead of cups of tea all day as well. Enjoying a well earned cuppa now though. DH tempted me with wine, his excuse Halloween, I remained strong and said no. Have had tin of veg soup and chicken pieces in 1 round of bread. Will try and stick with Mondays as a fast day to get it out of the way lol , next day will be Wednesday.

If I eat anything on my 2 day, I end up eating lots, as once I start, I can't stop. So I don't eat at all on my fastings days. It sounds harder than it is.

Today I've not eaten anything. Off to bed to watch TV in a bit so that I'm not tempted. And switching off this thread too, as I'm thinking I might just have a little nibble with all this talk of food.

Glass of water for bed it is!

This sounds like a really good idea. Not sure how I'd cope without my morning cuppa though so I may have to make up my own version (of your version) where I'm allowed a few cuppas throughout the day!

@TatumHigh I was very tempted to do that on todays fast not have anything at all and I think I may well have succeeded if I tried. Will give this a go next week. Well today was just absolute temptation festival. Loads of biscuits, sweets etc at work. I even had a tray placed in the middle of a meeting with the tray being passed about to each person. Okay so at that point right at the very end of the day I did have 1 chocolate digestive but I am still under 500 cals as have just had one tin of veg soup and two rounds of bread. A couple of brews and that’s it all done. Until next Monday.

Disappointed in myself this morning. Hopped on the scales and have put on. I know exactly why too much alcohol , red wine to be specific and burger and chips on bonfire night. Disappointed but that’s life I guess and starting again today. Wish me luck.
