Does anyone do this, or has anyone previously tried? (One meal a day).

I'm so sick of 'going on a diet', whether that's low carbs (been successful in the last, can't seem to stick to it for more than two weeks now), or calorie counting. I just cook for myself so figuring out the exact calories in a home cooked meal is too much faff.

Yesterday, I ended up just having coffee in the morning which is standard, then a home cooked bolognese with some gluten free pasta for dinner which I tend to have early anyway. I had made brownies so had a slice with ice cream but that wouldn't be an every day occurrence.

It dawned on me that I wasn't obsessed with food and didn't overeat. My calorie intake is around 1300 to lose weight so was thinking of just having a 'proper' one meal, early evening so that it takes all the mental load out and wouldn't have to exclude anything.

Anyone had any success with this..?

I had great success with this and found it so much easier than calorie counting etc.
I would strongly recommend reading feast, fast repeat by Gin Stephens.
It's important to have basically only water or black coffer when you're "fasting" or you make it much harder for yourself. - All explained in the book.

Fab, thanks @Pineappleunder I'll look that up.

It also occurred to me 💡 that if I was going out out for a proper lunch I'd save myself for that and then wouldn't have dinner. I'll give it a bash at a 4/5pm dinner and see how I go.

I’ve been thinking of doing this as I’m fed up of calorie counting or thinking about carbs and just obsessing about food in general.
I’d still be able to have my evening meal with the rest of the family.
Sounds great! Now, just to get started Hmm

I’ve been eating like this lately and it’s been revelatory! I generally don’t get hungry until 5/6pm, feel mentally sharp all day and have lost some weight.

Jason Fung has some good resources on fasting.

I've sort of been doing this. Having no breakfast (not unusual for me, the norm really) a very light lunch (think Mug Shot, Cuppa Soup) and then a normal home cooked meal. I could probably forego the cup soup at lunch and try proper OMAD. I'd be interested to read that book.

I'm on day 3 of unofficial OMAD, as I've still been having a splash of lacto free milk in my tea/coffee. No more than 3/4 a day. Once it's finished I'll move to fast properly. Baby steps.

Feeling ok, slightly hungry at times but nothing a 'it can wait until 4/5pm' can't handle. Eating a bit earlier tonight as on early shifts so will try and get to bed earlier.

I need to work my way up to it. I can do an eating window of 2-6 quite comfortably but delaying beyond 2 is proving rather challenging.
