Need a kick up the backside

I lost 1.5st just before the first lockdown and have put it back on (and more). Am eating shite and not exercising/walking. Got about 5st to lose.

I really need to prioritise my health and lose weight. Argh.

I know what to do but every day for the past week or so I've caved by about 11am and eaten shite.

Help, please! Am 5ft 10, sedentary PT job with time to exercise/walk if I make myself do it.

I do all the cooking, veggie meals for the family though I myself eat meat. Have been ill with umpteen colds/coughs/sore throats etc since August and pretty sure it's diet related. I take a good multivitamin and probiotic. Started HRT a few months ago which isn't helping, still quite up and down mood wise.

Sorry this is so disjointed.

I write down exactly what I eat (kitchen scales out) and how many calories in each thing. I add up as I go. When you see it in black and white it might be helpful.

Mosaic123 · 09/11/2021 14:51

I mean I do this every day. I have a printed sheet to make it easier.

Flurbegurb · 09/11/2021 15:00

Thank you, I need to do that - used Nutracheck before but will try pen and paper.

Add in strength training. More muscle requires more calories so can help with fat loss. It improves bone density. Fantastic for improving mood. Lots more too...
I also do not feel hungry for hours after a good training session, I'm much worse diet wise if I have time off the gym (recently had 3mth off as I had a c-section).
Increase your protein intake, 1-2g per kilo of bodyweight. Protein shakes are a low calorie way to do this, lots available (I get mine from myprotein).

Flurbegurb · 09/11/2021 17:38

Thank you, those are excellent ideas. I do struggle with protein but never thought of shakes. I have weights in the garage that I haven't touched for about eight months Blush

Definitely strength training. I've got a couple of dumbbell routines I like to follow on YouTube (e.g. Juice and Toya: .

Cronometer is also really great once you get into it, it appeals to my nerdy side as it makes it easy to track your intake.
