Committed to a 10 week plan before holiday. My belly fat is awful and I need a health kick.
I have the 800 diet book which I will study again but looking for general tips and easy but exciting meals. I don't eat fish and will probably skip breakfast.
Let me have your ideas!

Eggs are brilliant with loads of veg. Filling and easy. Baked eggs I love

When I’ve done it I never had breakfast (but that’s pretty standard for me anyway).
Watermelon salads (feta and a few black olives) maximum flavour kick.
Stewy things with tinned mixed beans are filling healthy and low cal in smaller portions.
I had absolutely no snacks just two meals.
All drinks zero calories.
My up days I did not go crazy just ate more and some different things.
Was best way I have ever lost weight.
Took a few weeks to kick in but when it did it really did. I had to persevere.
Don’t give up if the odd down day goes a bit awry.
Good luck !

Don't drink your calories.
Skip breakfast.

I personally really struggled with the breakfasts I am not an egg fan I have found it easier to skip breakfast and just go for lunch and dinner. Helps keep the calories at 800 or below and I've found it surprisingly easy to do. Sparkling water is great to help fill you up and definitely up your water intake. Avoid snacking if you can as it takes away from your meal calories. Good luck!

Batch cooking is really working for me, especially since it means I've got the right-sized portions of various meals ready and waiting in the freezer. So, if I'm in a hurry I can just pop something in the microwave and maybe add a pile of veg. Works well with the curry, dahl and similar type recipes. And soup! Good luck!

I have a late brunch around 10 of cottage cheese, yoghurt, or an egg frittata. I find I get dizzy spells if I leave it too long.

Lunch - miso soup and salad - I have a range of olives, pickles, jarred artichokes and red peppers, capers, etc in the fridge, and often do my daughter's salad trick - a finely chopped stick of celery and half a chilli. This gives a freshness and a kick. Or else leftovers from last night's dinner.

Dinner - omelette, strifry with spirlaised veg or cauli rice, ratatouille with halloumi is a favourite with DH, some protein (I do like fish!) with a load of veg.

Can I join you?

Martinisarebetterdirty · 12/06/2021 11:54

Definitely skip breakfast. I do drink my calories in terms of a coffee with cream mid morning that puts me on to a later lunch. Try and keep as low carb as possible. Pret Italian chicken salad is lovely (skip the dressing and 345 cals).
Eggs and babybel are good fillers for their calorie count.
I also like a raw mushroom and they are pretty filling and low calorie.
Good luck - first few days are a bit tough but then it’s pretty easy as long as you don’t graze.

Thank you everyone.
One week in and I think things are going well. Feeling surprisingly well and energized(I wonder if my blood sugar is stablizing). I got some urine sticks which confirm ketosis. My appetite isn't huge and I have no sweet cravings. Too scared to weigh myself though.

Wow! 10lb loss in two weeks!
Wow that's amazing! I've been looking at doing this... did you find it hard to stick to it? I'm expecting massive cravings for sugar because I eat far too much of it and as soon as I'm tired/stressed I crave it.

Congratulations on your weight loss!

Thatnameistaken · 20/06/2021 20:59

I've lost 2st 4lbs in 9 weeks on the 800, its definitely worth sticking with it, you will plateau at times but keep going, its worth it

MrsPatrickDempsey · 20/06/2021 22:17

@Elisannah
I have found it easier than expected as my hunger has gone. I have drunk loads of water, Diet Coke and slimline tonic.
Been out for Father's Day dinner and managed ok but found it a bit hard when the kids had sundaes but resisted. I feel a bit fed up with salads so trying to get different veg. The 800 cookbook is really good.
Good luck!

Well done on the weight loss. The key to low calorie food is vegetables. I make chilli con carne made with mushrooms instead of mince served with cauliflower rice and a bit of natural yogurt

Kindnessdoesnthurt · 20/06/2021 22:27

I'm on slightly more Cals than you but I've been eating lots of salad.
Cloud bread instead of actual bread.
Fibre one bars for the sweet tooth.
Light and free yoghurt.

Movedout · 20/06/2021 22:38

If you're really lazy like me and can't be bothered to cook/work out the calories you could try the Cambridge diet or shake that weight. I skip breakfast, have soup for lunch and a ready meal in the evening, I also have a bar in the afternoon on after my evening meal. The meals aren't great but they're edible. It's very low carb and ketosis kicks in quickly. Most importantly the weight comes off really quickly.
