5:2 and effect on psoriasis/skin issues

Hi all,
Been on 5:2 for a couple of weeks and definitely feeling the benefit.
I'm interested to hear from others experience of affect on skin particularly those who've got psoriasis.

Had patches for about 10 years in various places and nothing really shifts it apart from the sun on holiday and strong steroid sprays which keeps it at bay rather than ridding it completely.

In the book, MM states there are those who have experienced remission of psoriasis and now dermatologists are looking into the link between gut and skin issues.

Just keen to hear if there has been anyone that's experienced this as it would definitely keep me going as an incentive!!

There are many ways to do 5:2 (which by the way is a commercial version of IF).
Many will do it as a free pass to eat the usual gut-damaging diet during 5 days and then 2 good days.

To tackle unhealthy bacteria , one really needs to complete stop eating any food that will make inflammatory bacteria thrive, and this is processed foods, fatty food, meat products in favour of high fibre and complex carbs. So a look of vegetables, fermented foods, prebiotics and so on

The combination of a gut beneficial diet with IF is the next step, but diet comes first by far.

I've had psoriasis for as long as I can remember.
Elbows and knees were the most affected but also random patches that would spring up anywhere.
One patch I got when pregnant and had for over 20 years.
I've been low carb now for a couple of years and bar two tiny patches on my elbow my psoriasis has gone.
I never thought I would ever get rid of it. I've used every lotion/potion going and had UV therapy. All helped but didn't shift it.
I wasn't an instant fix but about a year in to low carb it has 99% disappeared.
I'm still very careful with my skin and old psoriasis sites like my knuckles still become tender and sore at times. I use lots of moisturizer and be careful when using water/out in the cold etc.

Any evidence for this?

OP, if it is anecdotes you want:

My inflammatory condition (asthma) disappeared three years ago when I started a keto. I have stuck with keto since then and asthma has not returned. I now no longer use inhalers at all.

I have heard similar things about psoriasis and removal of all carbs. These are carnivore success stories:

Hi all
Thanks for sharing your stories and pleased it's been positive outcomes. A couple of months in to a low carb diet and my patches are definitely improving. I do think refined foods and sugar do play a large part despite dermatologists not agreeing it is linked to diet.
