Getting fed up of intermittent fasting now

I started back in Jan and saw results pretty much immediately. I'm so glad I did it then as it meant by the time lockdown started I was a healthy weight. This meant I could weather the initial "hibernation ego eat too much chocolate etc" that I inevitably experienced in March and April.

I've manage to continue since then, with a week off when we went away so I can have a decent breakfast, and a second week when I was unwell. And I want to continue.

But, I'm getting hungry earlier and earlier in the day. I'm craving crap food, which is pretty typical at this time of year. I'm also stressed at work and I'm a massive emotional eater. That's one of the reasons IF has been so good, because I don't just go and shove half a packet of custard creams down my neck at 12.30pm when I'm pissed off with my colleagues!

So, please give me some renewed love of IF, please!

I'm very new to IF so probably not the best person to answer, but if you're currently doing 16:8, is it worth doing 15:9 for a bit to give yourself an earlier start, just until you get back into the swing of it?

I feel your pain. What I do now is just If most days of the week but on certain days when I feel I really need it, I have a low carb breakfast like eggs and salmon and try not to beat myself up too much.
If you want it to be sustainable rather than just short term yoyoing I think it has to be manageable, that's what I tell myself.

It’s really quite simple. You choose an eight hour eating window and only eat within that. So 12-8pm, or 10am-6pm, or whatever.

5:2 is 5 days eating healthily and 2 days eating a very low number of calories (usually 800). 5+2=7 so refers to a week.

16:8 is 16 hours fasting and 8 hour eating window.
15:9 is 15 hours fasting and 9 hour eating window.

These add up to 24, so relate to hours in the day.

Why oh why can't they just explain it like that on the websites I have trawled through to try and find out how these things work I end up getting tangled in the psychology then the bmi stuff. Thanku. Very much appreciate all of ur replies. It does sound like the sort of thing I could do which is why I was interested in how it works. Feeling much better about giving it a go. Thanku xx Grin

Hi Crinkleypeach just wanted to chime in to say you're not alone, a lot of the info on this can feel very confusing which I why I find these MN chat threads amazing because you can get simple practical advice from other women who are doing it/have done it. Good luck!
