Fasting / 5:2 diet

Talk about intermittent fasting and 5:2, including what’s worked for others. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

Would anyone recommend Dr Clare Bailey's recipe books?

Her recipes always look delicious on Michael Mosley's programmes.

Don't know if you do instagram nattsalie but she puts up loads of recipes there.

Yes, they’re good!

I find them hit and miss, I wonder if they've gone through User Acceptance Testing. Some of the quantities and cooking times just don't work for me, while I accept that everyone's oven is different. And I think vegetarians are a bit short changed in the fast 800 recipe book.

I've been using the recipes the last 2 weeks as me and DH have been on the very fast 800 and going onto 5:2 next week. They're very quick and easy. I do tend to add some of my own extra herbs and spices though and have some (no sugar) chilli sauce on hand.

To be fair, they are pretty straightforward, no faffy ingredients, and usually quite quick.

It's good in that it opens up your creativity by showing you whats possible if you are already a competent cook but if you arent then as pp said it's straight forward enough.
I like that the portion is for 1 or two ans at every recipe it tells you the non fasting version which is good if you are cooking for others. If you aren't strapped for cash get it but if money is tight just trowl the internet for ideas.
