DD1 has had a (slightly inconclusive) diagnosis of PO. She is in her early 20s and has always been a bit overweight and is now heavier. This concerns me (diabetes, Covid, etc) and I'm sure concerns her (she has seen a counsellor for a while, but not about her weight). Her siblings and parents are not overweight (me and her dad not without some effort - exercise and 5:2, so she sees good habits in theory). Does anyone know if I could encourage her onto the 5:2 by saying it will help the PO condition? I don't want to make it just about her weight, although I am sure she would feel better all round if she exercised and was lighter (what do I know!)

A fasting diet can definitely help with PCOS as sufferers (I’m one!) can develop insulin resistance problems and be more prone to diabetes.

It may be that 5:2 doesn’t work for her, she might find it easier to do 16:8 or similar, but she’ll only find out what fits in with her lifestyle once she’s tried it.
