liquid diet experience after giving birth

Has anyone tried a liquid diet after giving birth? I gained quite a lot of weight dieting my pregnancy and I have 4 weeks left. My doctor says she only wants me to gain no more than 2 to 3 more pounds. So I got rid of carbs and sugar and lost 2 pounds. Since I won't be able to do anything but light exercise for over 6weeks I was wondering if a liquid diet has worked for anyone after giving birth?

It’s not a good idea to restrict your diet so heavily after giving birth. Your body will be recovering and you need good, fresh food. If you’re breastfeeding I can imagine a calorie restricted diet will affect your milk supply.

I would be eating healthily for 6 months and then look into diets when your body has had a chance to recover and heal.

9 months on, 9 months off.
You’ll need good nutrition and food for energy after having your baby so I wouldn’t recommend a liquid diet

Don’t even attempt to diet immediately after birth, talk about setting yourself up to fail Shock. Focus on eating the best quality, nutritious food you can is a more realistic aim and even that will be a challenge when you are sleep deprived and faced with cake Smile! Enjoy your newborn and recover, worry about your weight later.

I would wait for a few weeks before restricting your diet post-partum You need to be sure you have recovered, that your milk supply is well-established (if BFing) and that you have started to get some idea of what your new life as a family is like, before making changes that can wait a bit.

I would also check what your doctor meant. Restricting diet in the very last weeks of pregnancy is unusual advice.

Hi thanks for the replies. I thought if I started right of with the restricted diet my milk supply would adapt then and be consistent and not suffer when I resume a regular diet. With breastfeeding my first child, I lost my milk supply greatly if I made changes to my diet, even just for a day.
At 12 weeks pregnant I weighed 110 and I'm 36 weeks now and I weigh 155. My doctor said I was only suppose to again about 35 pounds for someone my size. (also I'm only 5ft)
I changed my diet last month to high protein and veggies but I am still ravenous. Even a half of bag of fresh veggied doesn't fill me up. So I wanted to try juiced veggies, smoothies, soups aftet I gave birth.

We are really struggling with girls names, our surname is Rainbow and already have 6 children between us. Any help greatly received.
We currently like Elsie and Megan but are not 100% sure about them.

Look into low carb high fat. You might need to discuss this with your dr to see if it’s compatible with breastfeeding. But once you’re in Keto you really don’t feel hunger at all. Might be worth thinking about once you’ve recovered from the birth.

Tommy2011 · 05/06/2019 20:13

Sorry just realised I’ve posted my question in a chat and not started a thread, apologies for that..... newbie here 🤗

WallisFrizz · 05/06/2019 20:15

Don’t do Keto and breastfeed.

eurochick · 05/06/2019 20:15

Have I got this right and you are dieting during pregnancy?! That's a really bad idea. As is straight after the birth. Your body will need nutrition to heal. I'd tell your dr to do one, personally.

MustardScreams · 05/06/2019 20:27

Ooh yes just done some reading on Keto and breastfeeding, that was terrible advice on my part! Sorry op.

sleepwhenidie · 06/06/2019 11:07

Who the fuck decides what you are ‘supposed to gain’ during pregnancy? Hunger is a signal your body needs food, same as tiredness cues sleep and needing to pee...listen to it and eat nutritious food, something we all should do but especially when we are sustaining and growing another human being!

scaevola · 07/06/2019 09:23

So, your doctor hasn!5 recommended that you diet during pregnancy. You just took a descriptive comment about your weight gain as a reason to diet to the extent that you lost weight at a time when you shouid be maintaining/gaining.

This does not sound healthy. Nor does your history of post-partum dieting. Have you ever sought support for issues around your attitude to food?
