Stealth Dieting

Have been reading a lot about the Fast 800, both on this forum and in the book, and I think I could really do it! Have a couple of stone to shift before my metabolism possibly packs up shop for the menopause Confused
However, I think if I were to share the fact I'm doing this with partner/friends and family they'd dismiss it as a dangerous crash diet and be really annoying generally.
So my question is... has anyone successfully switched to this way of eating without anyone really noticing? (although of course they'd notice if you lost weight possibly).

I don't think you have to tell anyone your on a 'diet'. You could tell your oh you want to drop lbs so your cutting carbs etc.
Eat what's allowed & don't tell anyone what it is..when you succeed then tell them.
I've started 16:8 basically giving up breakfast, just say no thanks when your offered devil foods.

You're probably right Not :)
I just find that these days people (especially people I know Grin) always have an opinion on what others are eating!
I don't eat breakfast anyway, so I feel like I've been inadvertently doing a 16:8 fast for a while now.
It's more about eating with others - I have dinner with OH (we don't live together) and family several times a week, other times I'm on my own (so not obviously a problem then) - am thinking maybe eating something low cal around 250/300 at lunch, then just watching the portion size on the evenings I eat with them.

I'd like to give up eating after 4 but I don't think it would be a good example for dc and a bit antisocial. I like breakfast too much 😀

I have done the blood sugar diet for a few years now. I told people I'd given up sugar and carbs, but didn't tell them about the 800 calories bit. Even now I do alternate day fasts but I don't tell people, even Dh. People react like you've lost the plot if you tell them you're not eating cake. It really unsettled my friends when I not only did this 'extreme' diet but when it clearly worked, and quickly.

I've done Fast800 for the last 2 weeks and I told my BF and I ended up telling a couple of friends I was on a diet which was cutting right back on calories because they can be pushy with prosecco and cakes.

I def couldn't do it without being clear just because it's too easy to take on extra calories and then the day is shot. I have focussed very much on the science of the Fast800 though - lowering blood sugar, lower rates of breast cancer, obesity, etc. I feel thats less easy to argue with!

Thanks for the replies guys! When I have control of what I eat it's a breeze! Just finished Day 5 on Fast 800 16:8 and I've felt fine with it, so I'm planning next weeks meals now. Going to be tricky as I'm out for dinner several times next week!

I've kind of had to let on to OH why I wasn't loading my plate with his yummy pasta dish and passing on the wine, and I couched it in 'health' terms, mostly around trying work out what gives me indigestion in the evenings - said I was passing on starchy white carbs, alcohol and sugar as I think this causes indigestion for me.

Anyway, thanks for the tips, I think I am going to have to put it in health terms rather than a reduction in calories. 800 calories sounds a ridiculous amount when you've been told your entire life that 'crash' dieting is terrible and will ruin your metabolism forever!
