Anyone seen this new book ? . I've always done 5:2 but hit a plateau with it so I thought I'd try this but it just looks like the blood sugar diet plus 5:2 .

I’ve got this book coming on Sunday, starting then. Have 30lbs to lose and realised I really need some structure, I think this is something I can stick to. I don’t eat meat though so will be a lot of fish and eggs.

MorrisZapp · 01/02/2019 21:56

Is it literally eating 800 cals a day? That's very low, surely.

BuffaloCauliflower · 01/02/2019 23:12

@MorrisZapp not really. The 2000 calories a day mantra is actually pretty unhelpful, and far too much for your avenge sized, not hugely active woman. But it’s meant to be for a short, defined time.

wineandcheeseplease · 04/02/2019 09:17

I started 800 calories a day a week ago - lost 6lb in a week so far.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/02/2019 13:25

I read the book in a day, started 800 cals lower carb on Monday and I’ve lost 3lbs in 3 days. I was glad to see Michael Moseley advocate for daily weighing in the book as it’s my preference for motivation and tracking. Having to plan meals more but that’s not too much of a problem. Not finding it too hard and feeling motivated, which is good as I have 2st+ to lose/

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 06/02/2019 16:45

I read the book in a day too! Have been doing (approx) 800 calories a day for a week and lost 5lbs. I have NEVER managed to stick to something for a week! I’m amazed and feel really confident that this will work for me Smile

BuffaloCauliflower · 09/02/2019 08:49

6lbs off this morning, that’s a pound a day. Last couple of days I’ve been more 900-1000 calories but still losing. Feeling very motivated and really not finding it that hard. Hoping this continues.

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 09/02/2019 16:44

Buffalo 6lbs is great! I’d lost another half a pound yesterday but then had the day off: lots of lovely food and lovely wine and lovely company! Back on it today and like you say, it doesn’t feel hard at all!

Home77 · 11/03/2019 09:54

Hi, has anyone tried the shakes from his website, for this? Have ordered some but then read they are not too tasty in a review...not sure..quite expensive also. thefast800.com/product/meal-replacement-shake/

WoodAnemone · 16/03/2019 11:44

@Degustibus
I did the 5:2 diet three years ago and kept myself accountable with the free MyFitnessPal app on phone and iPad (oh and a bit of boasting about my progress to friends and family and a few random strangers).
I use a disposable email account and have most settings private but I think you can use it to connect with others with similar goals. I logged exercise and meal planning, and used it to confess to snacking, and that took up enough of my time to keep me focused. You can pay for a premium account to set different calorie goals for different days but I just ignored the nagging when I went under and over.

Hi there, I’ve just started the Fast 800, and just wondered how you guys had found it in the end? Any updates would be lovely to hear:)

cherryontop80 · 03/05/2019 07:52

Hi! I also started on Monday!

I lost 3 lbs by yesterday and weighed myself again today and I'd put a lb on!!!

I've been having about 850 calories a day I think -maybe that extra 50 cals is stopping me losing the weight!?

So total weight loss so far is 2lbs in 4 days.

Am a bit disappointed as I have 2 stone to lose and thought I'd have lost a bit more by now - the book does say its rapid weight loss. Maybe I'm doing it wrong xx

How's everyone else getting on?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/05/2019 07:56

Cherry it's water. Keep going! The problem with daily weighing and a rapid weight loss plan like this is that those fluctuations can be quite dramatic, but it will work if you follow the plan and 50c is neither here or there really. Try to drink plenty of water today which can help, because you need water to flush water retention, and you need it to complete to chemical processes involved in burning fat.

Filbert9 · 03/05/2019 09:09

I also have 2 stone to lose, Cherry! Crossing my fingers for both of us!

Ohyesiam · 03/05/2019 09:20

I did the bs diet a few years ago and was planning to start again next week. I didn’t even realise that the fast 800 was different.

I have so much to lose, over 4 stone, but I’m getting married at the end of July and want a kick start.
I have always been a yo-yo dieter, but have done some work on my relationship with food, and I do feel less compulsive. I’d love this to be my last diet Smile.

I feel very daunted by 800 calories a day again, and I’m in a really strong exercise regime at the moment, so am a bit worried about post workout hunger.

Has anyone joined the online support thing? It’s about £100 , but I think I need all the help and inspiration I can get, so I might go for it,

I think I lost about 2 stone last time, and only lasted 6 or 7 weeks.

That's great! Makes total sense that it's water!! Thanks for posting the new thread too! Xx

allusernamestakenseriously · 29/01/2020 22:38

Hi everyone
I’m new here - I came across your website when I was looking for reviews on the fast 800 diet!
May I ask a really silly question pls -
Looking at the website and recipe ideas they say for example 368 calories serves 4 so is that for the whole dish or is that 368 x 4
Just seems if it’s for one serving then the whole dish is Hugh in calories?!
Also reading you girls seem to be doing great on 800 a day. What kinda foods are you eating and is it really hard? X

FluffyEarMuffs · 30/01/2020 10:10

Welcome @allusernamestakenseriously

Come on over to this thread:

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/02/2020 11:11

@allusernamestakenseriously it probably is 368 cals per portion, have you tried putting it into mfp? The key with the BSD/fast800 is to have small portions of high calorie foods (so avocado, oil, cheese, full fat dairy, meat, and add veg in moderate quantities) but cut out the big portions of low calorie bulk like potato, rice, pasta etc. 368 cals isn't high really for a meal that will nourish you and sustain you, and those calories as fat and protein really will keep you going longer that say the same calories as a sandwich.
