Basically unless I literally starve myself nothing bloody works.
I've done the body coach, eat gain train tried just not having cake, bread, anything processed and I'm fat.
Smoking and eating dust works.
This can't be right really can it

The margin of error is too large imo. "Bowl of shreddies" could mean a very small quantity or a very large quantity. Skimmed milk or gold top would increase the difference. The resulting range of values would be to big to make a sensible judgement. You can assume a middle amount, but you don't know if that's what the OP is actually eating.

Everything you're eating there is carbohydrate. No wonder you're not losing weight!

You don't need to worry about the calories, but you do need to eat better. Where's the protein? Where's the fresh veg or salad?

But carbs are definitely your problem, not calories

I'm feeling it too, knackered and sluggish arghhhh

Just to compare, today I ate around 1200 calories. I ate:

Breakfast - 2 poached eggs, spinach, a grilled tomato and a large grilled mushroom
Lunch - Baked sweet potato, whole tin of tuna, salad leaves, cherry tomatoes and a whole small avocado
Dinner - Carrot and Lentil soup
Snacks - Slice of watermelon, 2 satsumas, 2 squares of dark chocolate
Drinks - 4 mugs of herbal tea, water

That is a lot more food than you ate, for the same or possibly fewer calories. My diet isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I get a lot more for my calories!

Tea is not zero. Tea comes from a plant ergo it is a carbohydrate the same as coffee (from a plant), milk (originally from grass - a plant). However I agree with the principal - I always switch to black coffee when I'm working on weight - all that milk does add extra carbs to the mix.

Pisssedoff you say 'Im confident it's not 1800 calories' - it is!

JemimaMuddledUp · 13/11/2016 22:14

Black tea without sugar is negligible calories. I know herbal tea is around 2 - 4 depending on which list you go by. An Americano in Costa is 5. I can't imagine that tea without milk or sugar is any more.

I agree with other posters that you should get your calories from protein rather than carbs. You will also find that your stomach is flatter just from not eating carbs.

Just started using my fitness pal again, it's 700 if I don't have the biccys so will cut those out and eat loads of veg and water today. Thanks all good to see it written down

MFP is great as long as you weigh/measure your portion sizes accurately. One revelation when I started using it was that my bowl size and their bowl size was very different! Once I started weighing everything I got results.
