Talk about intermittent fasting and 5:2, including what’s worked for others. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

Does anyone have any top tips?

I don't have a mahusive amount to lose, to be honest I want to lose size as my weight is fine.

I'm a little nervous about being sleepy and not with it

Hi Buggeret Most folk get used to fasting within a couple of weeks. Sleepiness is not usual, anyway - fasting tends to make you more alert.

. Take initial measurements: weight, waist, hips - so you can monitor how your shape and weight change.

. Use TDEE calculator in the Main Thread as a rough guide to how much to eat on NFDs (non-fast days). Since you are already a healthy weight, you need to be stricter than most folk, so check that over a week you haven't eaten back the FD (fast day) deficit.

. Choose any 2 days for FDs, non-consecutive is easier. Concentrate on lean protein and lots of veg for those days, e.g soups, curries, stir fries without the starches.
Avoid fruit juice or sugary cereal

. Before each FD: plan, shop & calorie count ALL food & drink for the day
If you take milk & sugar in Brew then calorie count your planned amounts for the FD and include them in the total; put them in 2 separate tubs.

So far I'm doing OK but I feel really physically exhausted. Does this get easier with time?

I've used my fitness pal for a while but it won't let me save todays data weirdly

Going to step tonight, hope it won't be a challenge too far..

As I said, it takes most folk a couple of weeks to get used to fasting.
Many of us quite enjoy our FDs now, as a reset button and we feel peaceful and relaxed.

Are you concentrating on protein and veg for FDs ? Starches can make you tired.
Drink plenty of water and have an early night
Also, you might find a teaspoon of Marmite from the jar helps, or a tablesp of unsweetened soy sauce, because they contain B vits and minerals. Each is only 10 cals, btw.

Most folk can exercise ok on FDs for an hour or so, but some find prefer to keep FDs as training rest days.
