Losing weight normally means eating fewer calories and / or carbs than other adults who are not dieting, also skipping treats and spontaneous eating. No way around that, whatever WOE you choose.
Exercise alone is insufficient.
Daily dieting is a continual grind. At least with 5:2 it is only 2 days per week. Most folk seem to manage that socially - 5 out of 7 isn't bad. It's probably easier for those who are working outside the home.
The alternative is just growing bigger every year.
On FDs, some folk save nearly all their calories for supper or for lunch, to share 1 family meal.
So if you do this, try keeping the parts of the meal in separate dishes: lean protein, veg, the starch. If you have a small portion of the protein, no starch, but a massive pile of veg, that should be within 500 cals, without weighing & measuring.
An example is with a roast beef dinner: have a few slices of roast meat, cut off any fat on your plate, have big portions of all the veg, plus a spoon of horseradish. But no potatoes, Yorkshires or gravy.
Cold hands are a common phenomenon with losing body fat, again on any WOE. Put on a thicker jumper, drink black coffee / tea / Bovril
