Wondering if 5:2 would be for me?

Hi everyone Smile I'm on a constant battle with my weight (not unusual there, I know!) and although I kid myself that I'm 'doing' Slimming World, in reality I'm not. But to be honest, even when I DO stick at it, I lose weight very slowly...very two steps forward, one back. My weight is gradually, very slowly creeping up again, and I need to address it. In retrospect, the most successful diet I ever did was Weightwatchers, but blimey I was miserable on it! So I think a calorie controlled plan is definitely the way to go.....do you think 5:2 could be for me? TIA Smile

Don't see why not, TwoNoisyBoys. If you look at the main thread - Nr 43, ATM, you'll see a variety of people on there all with the same concerns you have.

5:2 works! It will save you money, instead of costing you! And you get added extra health benefits.

Have a read through the OP on that thread, then jump in. You'll be assured a warm welcome - and lots of support should you need it. You won't be alone, there have been a few newcomers to the thread in the last couple of days! Smile

I tried 5:2 myself last year - I did well on it for the first few weeks when I was on it, then I had a few weeks where either I or my DD was ill. Nothing serious, but having a bad cold and lack of sleep etc just meant I needed as much energy coming in from food as possible.
Not saying this to put you off, but to prepare you. If you are having an ik day, then sticking to 5:2 is fairly easy. If you have had little sleep the night before, you're a little run down or you doing something stressful like starting a new job, you are likely to struggle.

As long as you plan your meals out, I don't think there is any reason why you couldn't stick to it. And if you join a thread on here they may be able to get your through the hard days.

Thank you both :) there's so many threads I'm confused which one to join! Are there any particular books or anything I need to buy to give me all the info?

No need to spend any money twonoisyboys. Spent some time reading the long opening section of the main thread, follow the links and then see what you think. There's plenty there to get you started, including a link to the documentary that started it all (hopefully that link still works - I haven't checked it for a few threads).

Feel free to jump in and ask any questions you feel haven't been answered by all that.

Betsy, that's fantastic, thank you so much! I started looking at the threads but got really confused! I've got a great starting point now, thank you Smile
