It's very cunning... Have a look at what you will look like as your BMI changes....

I will post this on low carb section as well.

Pfft. I'm 29.5. And it looks like me except my legs are thinner, which makes it worse really, as in reality I look like an egg on legs.

I'm doing something about it though, last week was lazing on the couch watching Star Wars with 4 year old DS and he told me my belly is like Jabba the Hut's. Which is unfortunatley true.

Gracie990 · 30/08/2013 08:20

Wow in my spare time

I'm 5.6", 9 stone, bmi 21 and a size 10.

eatriskier · 30/08/2013 12:15

Both links very interesting. Take some off the thighs and add it to the chest and that was probably pretty representative of me. The photos of people my height and weight do show the difference between people though.

MajesticWhine · 30/08/2013 13:18

Talkinpeace - because 7lbs seems achievable I guess. I am about 10 stone and my bmi is around 24, which is not bad, but I am carrying a bit of extra fat and I think I would feel really good at about 9 and a half.
"Ideal" weight would be more like 8stone something, but I think that is unrealistic. I haven't been 8stone something since my teens (I'm 42). But according to the diagram even 9st7 looks quite portly.

Talkinpeace · 30/08/2013 14:08

Majestic that is a perfectly sound argument .... personally I use 5:2 and am lighter than I've been since my 20s!

please look at the cockeyed pictures as well as the CGI as it does NOT take into account bone shape ...

theoriginalandbestrookie · 30/08/2013 14:15

hugoagogo - that model my diet is brilliant, completely shows how my aimed 10lb weight loss will make a huge difference to my shape.
Need the inspiration after completing my first two days of 600 calories.

Talkinpeace · 30/08/2013 14:28

Agree about www.modelmydiet.com/ : I set it to older and hair like mine and my fave black bikini and its pretty darned accurate

theoriginalandbestrookie · 30/08/2013 15:39

Also the modelmydiet shows the importance of flattering swimwear !

At my current weight the model looks okayish in the black one piece but swap that for the rainbow bikini and bleugh.

Witco · 30/08/2013 18:13

Clever gizmo!

Sparklysilversequins · 30/08/2013 18:20

That looks exactly like me.

hugoagogo · 30/08/2013 19:26

I take no credit-someone on here linked to it ages ago.

I like all the before and after pics on pinterest too.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 30/08/2013 19:56

Modelmydiet is great! Much more inspiring!

OOo I love modelmydiet except the horrible helmet head newsreader hairstyle that is the nearest I can approximate to my own.
Can I ask a couple of questions. What makes you pear or hourglass? I always thought I was pear because my food disordered mother drummed that into me at an early age until about 20 years later my sister pointed out that in fact we're completely different shapes to her. I have wide hips but I'm also a 34D or DD and my shoulders aren't narrow. Is there any measurement-based definition?
Also what's medium-large breasts - presumably the above qualifies?

Talkinpeace · 04/09/2013 15:03

alter the options till you get one that feels right

musicposy · 06/09/2013 21:34

That bmi thing is depressing. My bmi is about 18.5 - 19, so I don't want to be any lower now, I've lost all the weight I wanted to and am maintaining..But the person looks much fatter than I think I look. I have to get it down to below 17 to look how I think I look, which would frankly be dangerous.
I'm now depressed that I look fatter than I thought!

Artandtravel · 07/09/2013 16:30

That is interesting. It was accurate for me. I have been a member of a gym for a year toning up with swimming. It takes a long time to get in shape especially with things and other people like children taking precedence. I don't know if I'm any better than when I started. No dramatic results.

PeachesForMe · 07/09/2013 16:38

Really interesting in that I have lost a stone in the past year and feel better, plan to lose another stone and by that simulator I'll hardly look different, but I know I will feel better and my clothes will fit better. So meh. If I go by look, sadly I want to be losing two stone and tbh I think that'll be too much (you know the saying 'you've got to choose between your arse and your face...'?).

celticclan · 07/09/2013 16:46

It is a bit weird, I'm 1.5 stone overweight and I would like to lose 3 stone. The image represents what I look like but when I change it to the weight I want it to be it doesn't really look any different. I had to get down to 80lb before I was happy with the way it looked.

fatlazymummy · 07/09/2013 16:55

I thought it was pretty good. I put in my heaviest weight (bmi 35.7) and my present (25.5). Right now I look ok, neither fat nor thin. As I'm older at 53 I'm not expecting to have a perfect bikini body again. I just want to be as fit and healthy as possible.
IMO the model my diet one is unrealistic. Having lost a significant amount of weight, and exercised quite hard whilst doing so, I really don't expect to see the drastic changes it predicted for me.

Farewelltoarms · 09/09/2013 13:16

Going back to my question about what makes a pear shape, I've found a site that says if the measurement around your shoulders is 5% more than the one around your hips you're a pear shape. My measurements are 37 and 39 which kind of puts me at the cusp. Of course if I lost an inch from my hips I'd be firmly in the hour glass shape (as i doubt you lose inches from your shoulders) which is nice to know.

GibberTheMonkey · 09/09/2013 13:19

I have a visualiser. It's called a mirror
The second site is great. The first was completely wrong. It put all my weight in the wrong places for me. Bust too small, hips too narrow, so they stuck the weight on my stomach. It actually made me think 'I look better than that' for once.

GibberTheMonkey · 09/09/2013 13:21

Model my diet was better

InMySpareTime · 09/09/2013 14:41

Round my shoulders is exactly the same as my hips (38in) but massively more than my waist (24in). Does that make me an hourglass?

GibberTheMonkey · 09/09/2013 19:52

Yes

Farewelltoarms · 10/09/2013 11:23

Hell yes SpareTime - a 24 inch waist makes you a veritable Scarlett o'hara.
