Recommendation for fertility treatment

After over a year of trying to get pregnant I went to my GP, explained our misfortune and had relevant blood test/ultrasound done and was referred to fertility clinic (march 2025). I was given the date of 30th September to attend and although it seemed like a long wait I was relieved to have something to look forward to for answers. In that time I was diagnosed with PCOS for unrelated reasons.
last week my long awaited appointment was cancelled leaving my partner and I devastated.
I have contacted the ‘London women’s clinic’ for a private consultation but it seems to me they only offer private IVF as a solution which me and my partner cannot afford. Is there anyone in the SE London area that can recommend private fertility clinics that could review our results and maybe offer other recommendations/treatments.
I would really appreciate any advice as it feels like a mind field. Many thanks :)

Hey. Not sure if you've heard of the book 'It Starts With the Egg'?

Perhaps not the solution you're looking for and of course will depend on your own situation. But I read it and found the info pretty useful. Followed the general guidelines and started most of the supplements recommended for me (low egg reserve) and I luckily got pregnant after 3 months and I'm 40. Not sure if it was down to that, will never know, but have heard similar and better stories from others online re the book.

Wish you all the best.

Have you checked whether you'd qualify for NHS IVF, IF it was needed? They might give you metformin or other meds to stabalise your hormones before jumping to IVF. I went to Guys and found all the staff very friendly and helpful. Here is their price lists.

I had the same thing happened to me after an NHS referral and then explored private fertility treatment (which, for us, was IVF). I’m not sure where you’re based but my experience of a few clinics was as follows:

Bourne Hall - two friends had success here. I found the admin quite disorganised and then it was quite difficult to speak to the right people to sort it out. As a novice to IVF this was quite stressful so we abandoned treatment here before the round started.

Herts & Essex - did several rounds here and had support during the first trimester of some natural pregnancies. Felt very well “looked after” (eg doctors knew me by first name, gave me hugs, nurses showed me how to do injections “don’t leave here until you feel confident”, my questions were never too much trouble, they gave me some additional counselling sessions free of charge after a loss). I became a “complex” IVF case and I felt they really tried to find solutions to help.

Guys - had one appointment where I was told I had limited hope and needed donor eggs. Felt a bit ripped off at the appointment too as I got charged for things I wasn’t expecting.

Create - explored natural modified IVF here. They were okay but felt a lot more “salesy” than any other clinic I’d visited. This was okay for me because I was well experienced by this point and knew when to push back and ask questions but I’m not sure it’s the best clinic for a first timer.

(After all of that, I now have a 6 month old who was conceived naturally).
