I went to have my iud removed yesterday, and they couldnt do anything because the strings were evidently missing. He said that i would need a referal to gyn. I was offered a general anes or a local. The local which apparently is 3 injections into my cervix means i get seen within 3 weeks, i have opted for this, but an concerned about the pain during and afterwards. Anyone?

I had a hysteroscopy in clinic and it was fine, the only bit that hurt was when he took a sample, but you’ll not need that. I’ll need the same as you as my strings have gone up, but I’m not in the slightest bit worried about it.

I have had local anaesthetic injections into my cervix which I was really worried about because the local anaesthetic injections I had after giving birth (I tore a bit and needed stitching) hurt like hell.

The ones in my cervix I honestly didn’t even feel. I only knew they’d been done when the dr said “right, we’ll just wait a minute or so for them to work”.

Had my appointment on Friday morning and quite frankly it was an appointment i wish i hadnt gone to.
He did an internal, evidently to check for motion tenderness in my cervix. The spray thing stung like hell i think because he scratched me when i was examined.
Horrific, would tell people to go for a GA.
I wasnt warned about the pain when injections wore off, and he wants to do a follow up appointment in 2 weeks. I would rather not go back tbh.
