Using ovulation kits to avoid risk of getting pregnant?

I'm embarrassed to ask this at my age but I don't want to get pregnant at all yet don't want to use protection with my longer term partner. I am 48 so unlikely to conceive but not impossible. I am peri menopausal too so rarely have periods. Could I use the ovulation kits like Clearblue to track fertility days and avoid intercourse then?

You can, but if your cycle starts going haywire then you potentially could get caught, you would need to be testing every day instead of just around your expected ovulation date. I got pregnant at 44 when I had been having unprotected sex for 6 years & not got pregnant. For the sake of a couple of years, would it be worth continuing with contraception?

Thank you, are you saying use protection for 2 years? My partner is saying maybe unprotected during rest of month, then no sex during fertile part

If you’re peri you absolutely need to be using reliable- proper- contraception as your cycles etc will be all over the place, you can’t rely on tracking anything.

When I was TTC I used those things for the 2 weeks around ovulation and never got a positive. Yet have 3 DC.

I guess only risk it if you're prepared to deal with the consequences.

Maybe DP can get the snip instead? Much safer than an unwanted pregnancy.
