Low iron - worried

Hey!

Quick summery of me - I have given birth twice. The first ended in stillbirth at 33 weeks and I gave birth a second time to my daughter last Jane. It took me 6 months the first time to concieve and 2 months the second.

I am now 30 years old and want to ttc in 2 months time. I have a lot of trauma when it comes to pregnancy and my anxiety is increasing the closer I get to the date.

I stopped BF 2 months ago, and have started my period and they are HEAVY. I had a blood test and all of my results were normal except for the ferritin Serum level which was at a 15. I'm now taking 2 iron tablets a day.

I feel really low about it. What if I never concieve again? Why did I not carry on taking iron supplements that I was taking in pregnancy? I'm cross with myself. Also my periods are so heavy after they have restarted that I just feel the iron isn't even touching the sides.

Just wanted to hear any successful pregnancy stories for people with low low iron. Did the iron supplements help? How long did they take to help?

I just want things to go smoothly as I already find the idea of pregnancy distressing and upsetting from my previous experience. Luckily my therapy is helping.

Thank you in advance!

Sorry for your loss. I'v had successful pregnancies whilst being low on iron, unfortunately for me the tablets don't work too well so I have infusions. I normally have 2 towards the end of pregnancy as well. If you're found to be low in iron on your booking bloods or any subsequent bloods they'll keep a closer eye on it for you.

2 months should be enough time to see if the tablets are having an effect - book for repeat bloods if they haven't already.
