Mini pill withdrawal

I have been on the mini pill for just over 6 years. It has always worked well for me but I've been getting some spotting recently and I'm feeling like I want to come off it to give my body a break and a period! I am worried though, I started taking the mini pill for contraception but also to help mood swings and very heavy periods which caused dizziness and headaches. Does anyone have any experiences they could share with me about coming off it?

I’m thinking about coming off mine too. Recently been spotting and been having awful panic attacks. It’s like my body doesn’t want the hormones anymore. I’ve came off it before for anxiety, and the first two months my cramps were bad but then it settled. It was quite nice to be in tune with me body again. Let me know how you get on!

Thanks for replying. Yes that's how I feel too. Still haven't plucked up the courage to do it!

I found I got worse mood swings when ON the pill! I stopped it TTC, and it was like I'd never been on it. Period came back as regular as it had been before and no issues I recall- but I never had issues before going on it.

If there is a family planning clinic nearby, I'd go there. Sometimes they have clinics within sexual health settings, or hold sessions at different GP practices. You might need to ring around to check. I always found they had more time to discuss my contraceptive issues and choices, and new more about newer options compared to my GP or practice nurse.
