Contraception for 37 year old obese woman

Is there anything I'm likely to be allowed? I can't have the coil, this I know from asking before. I know they don't give the combined pill out if you are over 35 and much less likely if you are obese so that is out too.

I thought I'd be allowed progesterone only contraception but talking to friends apparently not. Would like an idea what I'm talking about before I head to the GP or contraception clinic.

Blood pressure is normal, bmi of 36. Heavy periods and mild anaemia. No allergies or previous DVTs though I have had a superficial clot in a varicose vein I no longer have as has them removed.

Me and DH for various reasons have decided no more children, he doesn't want a vasectomy. We've used condoms for around 9 years but I'm fed up of them now and would like to be able to have sex without having to stop and think about contraception. Plus if it helps with the heavy periods that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Hi I'm the same and I've just had the depo injection

I had the the copper IUD when I had a a BMI of about 44

I think you need to talk to a GP again, preferably a different one to whomever said you couldn’t have the coil. There are more options these days for women with a higher BMI. Years ago it was just assumed we wouldn’t be having sex so nothing was ever tested on us. Different these days. Good luck!

Coil should be ok so don't know who said it wouldn't be an option. Anything that doesn't have oestrogen could suit e.g. injection, implant, copper or hormone coil, mini pill.

After years of you sorting out contraception and having things in your body to prevent falling pregnant, why doesn't your husband want to step up and get a vasectomy?

We will be having one more child and then husband is getting a vasectomy. I've done my time taking contraceptive pills.

I can't have the coil due to very tilted cervix and very scarred uterus.
