Is is okay/safe to get Botox whilst going through IVF? I can't seem to find a straight answer on google....

It's a toxin, so I would think no.

"Since most exposure to the toxin occurs during the first trimester of pregnancy, it's recommended that you stop receiving injections for a few months before trying to conceive. If you are actively receiving injections and found out you are pregnant, it's recommended that you stop receiving Botox immediately."

I definitely wouldn’t, as Botox is a poison derived from botulinum. Good luck with the IVF.

You won’t get a clear answer as the research just isn’t available so it’s a no from me. I’d stay well away from Botox when doing IVF. When I was doing IVF, and then when I was then fortunate enough to get pregnant, I swerved anything that ‘probably’ was ok to use but lacked unequivocal data. It just isn’t worth it.

Ivf is emotionally challenging, physically demanding at times and expensive.
My emotional reaction is goodness no, don't do anything that might be a risk.
But if this is something you are used to and makes you feel good about yourself I would find out if medical Botox for migraines etc is stopped while pregnant.
If it is I wouldn't do it, if it isn't then you are probably safe to continue and may feel better in yourself for doing so.

My dermatologist said categorically no botox during ivf or pregnancy.

It hasn't been studied, but it's one of those things where they'd never get approval to inject a woman with something potentially fatal to a foetus.

No. Of course not. Why would you even consider it? Why wouldn't you give this your best shot (from someone who has had to go through a lot of IVF) trust me the odd wrinkle will be the furthest thing from your mind in the midst of treatment

I don't actually get it for wrinkles, I've been getting it for persistent, excessive sweating (a side effect of my PCOS) since I was 17, but thank you for your unhelpful judgement.

Thank you all your comments. I've been through 2 cycles already and about to start my 3rd, but just realised I'll be due my routine Botox at the end of November, which might fall during FET. I'll discuss it with the clinic when I'm there next week.

And just to add, I've been receiving Botox since I was 17 as when I was a teenager I suffered terribly with excessive sweating. It wasn't until years later I realised this was a side effect of PCOS which has brought me down the IVF road today.

From the manufacturer:

Pregnancy
There are no adequate data from the use of botulinum toxin type A in pregnant women. Studies in animals have shown reproductive toxicity (see Section 5.3). The potential risk for humans is unknown. BOTOX is not recommended during pregnancy and in women of childbearing potential not using contraception.
