Didn't hurt. Just feels like going for a smear which has also never caused me any pain.

Thanks for your reply.
having a smear test has never bothered me plus 3 kids.
I think il give it a try I'm fed up of taking hormonal contraception I can't cope with the mood swings I'm awful since I've started the pill.

Yes, I'm on my second Mirena. It's uncomfortable, and with the first one there was a 2 second period of very sharp pain, but no actual pain with the second one. I then had a feeling of stomach cramp for the rest of the day, both times.

Experiences vary a lot between women. For me, it's been absolutely worth it to have no periods and no contraceptive worries for 5 years.

I had one before my daughter and after. I was one of the unlucky ones who, before having a child was in agony after having it fitted. It was hours and hours of labour-like pain (I've also done natural childbirth and can confirm, the pain was the same!) couldn't sit down for a day and fainted at work.

So when I went to go get it fitted after my daughter was born I was mentally prepared to deal with labour like pain all over again. But this time, honestly, the numbing injection hurt more than the insertion. Forgot all about it once I left the clinic. The difference was night and day.

The lady in the room next to me was sent to a and e after her fitting though, because she just kept fainting due to the amount of pain she was in.

"Light cramping" my arse.

I'd have it right now for my 8 week old daughter since her injections today was awful I'd take the pain as punishment to myself for what she has to go through .

Ive had an IUD copper coil for years before and after children, have loved the fact of no hormones. However, I'll be turning 46 this year and experiencing perimenopausal symptoms. Brain fog, poor temperament and heavy bleeding. I've been prescribed combined HRT patches. Im also considering changing the copper coil for a marina coil to provide the progesterone within the HRT & to stop the periods. I've always used one particular family planning clinic but now live out of the area. GP can do it but keen to hear your thoughts.... experience of Marina Coil? & where you had it fitted? Have you gained weight whilst using Marina Coil? Thanks in advance ladies.
