The mini pill and bleeding

I had been on a different mini pill for a while. Had a lot of bleeding and cramps so was told to try a different mini pill destrogel. The first 2 months I had no bleeding which I thought was great. I’ve been on it for 4 months now and I’ve been bleeding for the past 2 months. Had lots of tests including scans etc and it’s all come back clear so they believe it’s just how my body reacts to the mini pill. Can’t take the normal pill as I get migraines etc.
After some thinking I’ve decided to come off contraception for a bit and see if my body regulates itself again. I stopped taking it last night and today I’ve got no bleeding.
Could this just be a coincidence and the pill has maybe just sorted itself or could the stopped bleeding be because I didn’t take last nights pill? If the pill has finally sorted itself out then I’m tempted to continue taking it.
Just wondering if anyone has had the same thing and can share some light on it?
I am 31 and looking to come off contraception in the near future to start TTC again but would be fine staying on the pill currently if it meant no bleeding.

I couldn't say for definite but I also bleed continuously on the mini pill and as soon as I stop the bleeding stops although sometimes have spotting for a while after. I've tried 3 different times with different pills.

Thanks for you reply! Have you had the same bleeding with every mini pill you've tried?

Yes every time. I also get violent mood swings and a feeling of absolute despair. It's horrific!! I think it's the specific progesterone as I'm now on hrt and I don't get why it that from my progesterone pills.

I’d been on Yasmin for some time but in May my GP changed me to Cerelle. I’ve literally bled since. I had 2 weeks where I had nothing but this week has been the worst. I never suffered with heavy periods but now it’s uncontrollable. I’ve now gone out and bought myself the Lovima mini pill but im not holding much hope. I have been back to me GP and they’ve simply refused to change me back to yasmin. Personally I think it’s down to cost. If this Lovima works out to be the same I’ll be purchasing Yasmin myself
off the internet. You’re not alone.

Thanks for your reply. I feel it's quite bad that they advise you to stay on something that causes constant bleeding/pain etc.
Please let me know how you get on with the mini pill you mentioned above.
I don't blame you for wanting to go back onto your original one.
I've came off the mini pill as of yesterday to see if that regulates my bleeding/periods again as it's getting ridiculous

Sorry to hear it makes you feel that way on it. I definitely feel that way sometimes and also very emotional, crying over nothing.
Not sure why by 2022 we still have to feel this way when it comes to women's contraception

I bled for months on cerelle. I now buy Hana either online via superdrug or over the counter. Bled for the first month on and off and now no bleeding at all. Been on it about 6 months now and very happy with it.

Ohh, I'll look into that pill and maybe give it a try.
Thanks!

Hi

Just wondering if you had any success with the lovima as I have just done the exact same thing. Was prescribed cerelle to help PMDD but bleeding so badly with it two weeks constantly and can't take combined pill due to a few risk factors. Going to try lovima as I read it can stop ovulation in 97% of women unlike other Pop's.

Lovima and Hana and cerelle and cerazette all have the same active hormone (desogestrel) so theoretically they should all have the same effect

Mini pill- most effective contraception ever as never stopped bleeding.

Yes, I would have thought the same. But my experience with two of them gave completely different reactions.
