Five+ months without a period - will it be ok?

Hi all,

I came off the pill last June to start TTC. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as was diagnosed with PCOS as a teen and had been on the pill ever since, but was encouraged when I had my first period about six weeks after.

The second took a couple of months, and the third a few more months still. Now I haven't had a hint of one since early November, so over five months ago.

I spoke to my GP in February and she didn't seem too concerned. She said to wait until I get my next period and then go for a blood test to see what's going on. But two months later, is it still nothing to be overly concerned about yet?

Sorry, I know it's probably impossible to say, but I'm really struggling with the idea that we need to just keep pushing on for now when I have no idea if it's even realistic anymore.

It's still realistic. That sounds similar to me, when we were TTC - except I didn't know beforehand that I had pcos. It took a while (at various points having to wait months for some stage of test or whatever for an erratic period was pretty tough) till and I needed clomid. But worth persisting!

Thanks so much @ErrolTheDragon, that's really reassuring. I feel like I'm just counting down to the one year mark now to be able to get things underway with clomid or similar as trying at the moment feels pretty futile. The fact that many of the tests/treatments can only be started after you've had a period worries me a bit but I guess we just have to cross that bridge when we come to it. I hope it wasn't too difficult a time for you Flowers
