Contraception needed if low sperm count

So I've been in a relationship with new man for 8 months. I discussed sorting out longer term contraception with him and said I was thinking of coil (sti checks to be done etc).
He has told me that he has fertility issues low sperm count and his son was conceived via ivf. He said he feels bad that I should go through having the coil when he thinks its unnecessary.
I'm a bit confused, i would think there is still a chance I could get pregnant? Even if very remote?
Has anyone experience of this?
Fyi we are both in out 40s and a baby was not in my plans (already have a child).
(Thank you but please I dont want comments around him having a vasectomy as he was very down about the whole situation and I want to be responsible about this for myself. )

Saw someone on here a while back who was pregnant having been told a new partner was infertile. Do not risk it.

I would think low sperm count doesn't equal no sperm.

He would have to have a sperm sample analysed for me to see what the results were.

This is literally nothing to do with him. You want a coil - you get a coil (or whatever contraception that is right for you) whether or not he feels it's "unnecessary". And if he's in any way hesitant or resistant about the STI checks, run for the hills.

And low sperm count doesn't mean no sperm. It only takes one!

Yes ok I'm still going to go for it.
For what it's worth he wasnt being awkward about it and is fully on board with sti checks etc. He thinks it sounds like an uncomfortable procedure to have to go through. But then hes never been through childbirth Hmm
Thank you all.
