Failed coil insertion

I'm 10 months postpartum and decided to have the copper coil fitted. Off I went to my clinic with my positive mental attitude in tow... only for it to go downhill from there.
After putting in the speculum, the nurse fitting the coil said she had trouble finding my cervix (ooerr). Once 'found', she started rooting around and I should brace myself for some sort of measuring tape to be inserted. Only she couldn't. She then got another senior nurse who fits coils day in day out to have a go. No luck. Apparantly my cervix is so closed they don't want to simply 'shove it in'.
I felt discomfort but I don't think they were actually able to move along the procedure far enough for it to really hurt.
I've been referred to another experienced nurse in 2 weeks time... apparently if this nurse can't fit it, no one can!
My question is, has anyone else had a failed insertion, with successes after a few attempts (and did it hurt!), but also failed after giving birth... whereby my cervix was stretched enough!

Thanks

I'd be afraid it would hurt too much. Women here aren't given enough pain relief for procedures like this.

They'll probably suggest a Mirena instead, it's smaller and more flexible.

They can use a tool to stretch your cervix open and also instilagel which numbs your cervix. It happens a lot to some of our less skilled fitters. They may refer you to gynae or they may ask you to come back closer to a period. Maybe suggest a Jaydess coil which is small.

Thanks all. I'll ask about pain relief, they didn't mention any sort of numbing just that they would stop if it does hurt. One of the nurses declared "they had 3 fainters last week"... oh dear god!
Coincidentally the next appointment is 2 days before I'm due so fingers crossed that helps!

I will just say, and this is only my experience - if there's cervix issues maybe don't go down the coil route.
Apparently I have a very "far back" cervix which is also tilted and she rammed it in like a cattle prod and I felt like I was in labour for three days.
Having said that I had a great year of no issues and no periods which was absolutely wonderful.
Then I had a niggling pain in my cervix area. Which persisted. Then bleeding only when I had sex, which got worse to the point sitting down felt like getting stabbed and even driving was agony.
Long story short after various scans and internals where they couldn't even see the damn thing they realised that it had half fallen out diagonally and had perforated my cervix.
I was offered surgery but opted for the just-get-it-out appointment as I considered my GP was a pro.
Anyway, 45 minutes into some agonising fishing and cold sweats later - it came out, where she reliably informed me she pretty much performed the surgery but with me awake and no pain relief and it was a "lot harder than expected".
Afterwards she told me I was an awful candidate for a coil as my cervix was so wild and the lady who put it in should have known at the time.
Just proceed with caution. I was the lady that talked about how amazing the coil was at the coffee machine at work.

I'm not surprised. I'm eternally amazed at the barbaric amounts of pain women are just expected to put up with when it comes to anything gynae or OB.

And when I said fishing, I actually meant fisting* but hey either works.

Well if anyone is interested, the eagle has landed and was a success. The same woman who couldn't do it last time was "overseen" by the doctor. She put it in and it came straight back out! At which point the doctor just took over... why she couldn't do it in the first place I don't know. I think because it wasn't a straight forward case, I was being tested on! The doctor did it straight away with only a little pain so fingers crossed that's me done.

Thanks for the wisdom all x
