How tight should a condom be to be a safe contraceptive

DH and I have always used condoms (12 years). No more kids wanted and we rely on condoms (only method we will accept) - but I definitely don't want to get pregnant again.
We have always used brands that either he or I get from the supermarket - mainly Durex Extra Safe or in the last few years the Thin Feel ones. We have got on fine with those although they can be hard to put on (so difficult that I can't do it - he always does that bit). I have always thought that the tight fit on the main length and the rubber band bit at the base were some assurance against leaks. Anyhow, last month DH came back from shopping at Savers and showed me some King Size Pasante condoms that he wanted to try. They are easier to put on (I have at last managed to do it) - but I'm freaked out about a leak. The main lenghth is slightly baggy and the rubber band bit only just fits around the base. I know that the sperm is supposed to stay in the reservoir teat - but a post coitial check showed that there was some sperm well down the shaft and near the base. With the tight Durex ones it stays at the top and there is a seal where it fits around the head of his penis. Are these King Size too big for safety. To make it more difficult he says that he prefers the feel of the big ones. AIBU?
I have also googled condom effectiveness and found that spermicide condoms are available - but I can't find any to buy - anyone know where you can get them (we bought some on a holiday to Florida about 2 years ago - but none online or instore here).
Thanks for any advice or facts.
Zoe

A condom that is too tight can easily break but a condom that’s too baggy can allow sperms to flow down the shaft (as you’ve experienced).
The condom should feel comfortable, still feel like there’s something on, but not tight.

It’s sounds like he’d benefit from trying a few different brands as the lengths and widths can vary.

My-size sells condoms is a huge range of fits, he can measure himself and match it to the chart on the website (they’re expensive so probably best to buy a small pack so he can see how a properly fitting condom fits and feels.

The NHS shop online sells huge packs of condoms at a reduced price btw.
