Considering the copper coil as would much prefer a non hormone contraceptive for various reasons.

However I have heard its quite common to get pregnant on the copper coil?

Any advice?

I’ve had 2 and to be honest I haven’t noticed any difference in my periods. I didn’t bleed a lot anyway. I also love the fact it’s non hormonal. I’d go for it!

@feistymumma had a quick google there, the symptoms of copper toxicity are horrible, hope you have recovered. Thanks for bringing it up - it is so important to be aware of possible risks.

@Zofloramummy glad to hear of another having a good experience with the copper coil.

Fully recovered thanks, urinary tract infections were another issue - I had one nearly every month! Admittedly I fall in the 1% of people having contraindications for nearly everything so don't mind me. Hope you get on well with it.

I have nothing good to say about the copper coil- for me it was the devil.

It gave me all types of health issues. After all tests came back negative and all health professionals telling me it cannot be down to the copper coil, I came across a book called why am I always so tired by Ann Louise Gittleman.

Got it removed and haven't looked back.

I don’t think it’s possible to get copper toxicity from the coil as it doesn’t enter your bloodstream? The most well documented side effects are heavier painful periods. Mine haven’t been too bad. I’ve had it since the start of the year and I’m happy so far.

@Tinyteatime I am only speaking based on my own experience. Lots of threads out there on people who had this, me included. Had to take zinc supplementation for a considerable length of time. Like anything there is always the 0.01%.
