HELP Copper Coil

Hi,
I had my LO in March 2019, I breastfed till September/October and my periods soon came back.
I had the Depo injection at the end of October and I haven't been off my period since, suffered with horrendous bloatedness (I look pregannt most days) and pain ... I was meant to be booked in for my next injection at the end of Jan but decided against it as it obviously wasn't working and it had a horrendous effect on my mental health, so I decided for the copper coil.. No hormones, dont need to think about it for another 5 years - WINNER !!!
I had the coil done around 6 weeks ago and I still haven't come off my period just constantly bleeding, pain and being bloated. I had my coil checked the other week and it was still in place as she could see the strings.

I just wanted to hear other stories and whether it was worth going back to the doctors just yet or wait and see? Obviously affecting me and my OH as I don't feel comfortable. And spending an absolute fortune on sanitary products !!!!
Help please, any advice, anyone similar, I dont know what to do!!!!

Are you bleeding heavily constantly? It was about 3 months of spotting between heavy periods for me. Then the spotting stopped but my periods are still heavier and last longer than they used to before I had the coil but they are getting better. I've had mine in since June.

LettuceP - Its not horrendously heavy apart from one week a month which I am guessing would be when my period should be then after that's passed, it's just average, some days I would be off for a day and then it will start back up.. I cant recall having more than a day break from bleeding.
I might just give it a few more weeks and see how it goes!

Yeah that sounds similar to how it was for me. I'd say give it more time unless you are in pain (other than the usual monthly cramps). I think it takes quite a while for your body to adjust. The copper coil definitely makes your periods longer and heavier so it's a question of working out the pros and cons, for me it's worth it to not get pregnant again without using hormonal contraception.

The copper coil does not affect your cycles. Your period can be longer and heavier but you shouldn't get irregular/interments trial bleeding with it. My concern would be that there is something else causing that. I would go to your GP for an examination so they can look at your cervix and do some swabs. If these are normal and the bleeding hasn't settled they may want you to refer you for an ultrasound or gynae.

River view!!! Thank you so much for that, I was thinking something cannot be right, I’ve literally been bleeding everyday heavily for the past 7 months and just genuinely put it down to my contraception messing with my body!! I will make an appointment on Monday because I am literally getting to my whit ends with it all, so so down and spending a fortune 😭😭😭😭
