Implant removal - nervous!

I'm on my third implant (nexplanon) and overall have been really happy with it. My husband and I are thinking of starting a family this year (I'm turning 34 soon and he is 48) so I've been wondering whether it might be a good idea to get the implant removed to let my body settle back into a routine, and so we're ready to start trying when we feel like it.

My only concern is - I've been on hormonal contraceptives continuously since I was 15. I suffered from bad periods pains, hence starting so young. I'm worried that I'm going to revert back to painful periods and all that that entails...it's probably the only reason I'm slightly reluctant to have it out.

...has anyone else been in a similar position? Was it as bad as you were expecting?!

I was similar to you but with a coil definitely let your body have a good few months to get back into w routine and back into its natural pattern. And just have lots of fun practicing the baby dance hehehe

It's wasn't as bad as I thought either as if forgot what it was like to actually like to have a period and get into a period cycle I used a period cycle app to help. Definitely do that it really helped. X

I had mine out and conceived a couple of months later my periods went back to being regular quickly they were really erratic on the implant. I've never had painful periods so can't really comment on that part but I have an implant in again and this time round I have a period every month whereas last time I could go months without. I suppose everyone reacts differently.

Thanks all - I think I need to bite the bullet and get on with it. I'm quite keen to see what life is like without artificial hormones and to start tracking to see what my body is really doing. I've just got too used to my easy life!
